Graham Souness

I have never been a fan of Graham Souness. But I have never agreed more with a football pundit placed in the difficult position of having to react on camera to such an extraordinary event.

For those who did not watch Souness:

“He (Tevez) is one bad apple. He can undo all the good work that has been done (at City). He’s a disgrace to football. He epitomises what most people think is wrong with modern football."

“It is totally unacceptable. He’s a football player and he is paid to play. He is refusing to help his team-mates. It’s all about him, him, him.”

“He (Mancini) walked into a hornet’s nest with him (Tevez) and several other players who were at the club at the time,” continued Souness.

“That would cause you to walk away from the job. How can you deal with players acting like that?”

The reluctance of Mark Hughes to criticize Tevez unambiguously was frankly deplorable. Sadly it was all too predictable.

Completely agree with this. Never been a fan of Souness, but everything he said was spot-on, particulary "He epitomises what most people think is wrong with modern football".

Funny how a pundit severely critisizing one of our 'players' can give him so much respect from all City fans!

Souness is sound, and doesn't take any shit. He battered 2 of his players, Andy Cole and Yorke in seperate training sessions at Blackburn for acting up. That's how Souness deals with people who step out of line. He'd have put a bad hurting on Tevez last night if he were manager. He was a genuinely hard player too.
Beating your players up is probably not the best way of dealing with them, but that's Souness for you.

Maybe thats why he kept quiet!

Not like Hughes to neglect what is right and stick to defending any old shithouse position/situation as long as in his (shit) judgement it might turn out to be better for him.

The man is a snake.

Every word that comes out of his mouth is calculated to suit one criterion only. What might sway people, either immediately or further down the line, to think that Hughes is highly competent and permanently hard done by.
