Grand Canyon visit

Done both sides of the GC and both good but South Rim definitely seemed more grimy and authentic.
If you’re in Vegas then get the fuck off the cheesy strip and head downtown to meet the characters, loonies and losers. Shady and sketchy as fuck but a brilliant laugh. Every bar is populated by people waiting for their lives to be turned into Coen Brothers movie
Dino’s bar is top

Head up to Northern Nevada if you get a chance, Jackpot NV may be one of the craziest little towns in the US. It’s about a quarter of a mile from the ID border.

Even Lewis Hamilton couldn't do Williams to the GC in 15 minutes. It's a 60 mile journey.
Well it was 3 years ago, but it defo didn't feel like a long way, maybe I was lost in enjoying the moment of driving along Route 66 and then driving through a forest. The hardest part was fighting through all the Chinese tourists..

Just booked it for the south rim.
Yes 14 hours with lunch and is $80.
The details says includes driving over the Hoover Dam bypass bridge but not the Dam itself.
And yes we have 3 hours there. So a 20 min look and photo and hit the pub lol
Sit on the left side of the bus!
As you cross the bypass bridge you will be looking at the “dry” side of the Dam, and thus be able to see its size.

You will be shocked at how low Lake Mead is…lowest it has ever been! You can tell by the bleached rock “bath tub ring!”

And, font be surprised to see aircraft low overhead, as we turn final on Rwy 26L at about 8,000’ in the vicinity of the Dam!

Not sure if you know the history of the Dam, but the town of Boulder started as a worker camp, with Vegas as the place to get away from the camp to drink and have a shag.

Many people still call it Boulder Dam, even though it was declared Hoover Dam. Quite the political football amongst some!

To be fair, it's the most boring drive up to the Canyon from Williams. It's completely flat and featureles. And even when you get to the car park at the village, it's still completely flat. Then you walk 100 yards to the rim and you've got this incredible sight.

We were there in late November and I thought we'd have the place to ourselves but the weather was good and it was pretty busy.

Winter mornings can be some of the best canyon views as the morning fog that sits in the canyon starts to burn off, revealing the chasm below!
