Gravy vs Curry Sauce

I remember being in Torquay in 1992 and asking for chips and gravy, they never heard of gravy nor did they have it, their gravy was curry sauce.

Don’t want to be controversial but I’m making a mustard sauce to go with mine tonight.

Chips go with anything and everything, chilli con carne, curry, you name it.
But chippy chips is S & V all the way.
Just as a little hand grenade, if you are taking the fish supper home then you have to have mushy (marrow fat) peas and tartare sauce. Preferably homemade of course.
In reality the absolute answer is whatever is your own preference; it's just that if your preference is sauce or gravy then you just happen to have an appallingly unsophisticated palate.
