Could remove front row seats and sink dry moats around all pitches, but that would be a rather drastic solution to what seemed to be a weird weekend, and it would be something that would spoil the intimacy that makes football grounds unique. Alas, players have been and will be targeted by such loons far from grounds as well, so it's something that cannot be entirely prevented.

Would be interested to see the results of the toxicology reports, assuming they were done, from the three arrests (Edinburgh, Birmingham, London), and see if there are similarities. Then again, it could simply be copycat behaviour.

They’ve locked him up court this morning. I know people who have been done for far worse bailed in police station to appear in court at a later date. Has this gone through so quickly because of tv etc

This has gone through so quickly because of the potential for a far worse incident. Stopping a nutter with a knife or (god forbid) a bomb from invading the pitch and taking out a number of high profile players is nigh on impossible without full body screening at gates. This incident has highlighted something that has been apparent to most people for some time, but had little more than lip service in terms of prevention because it's so difficult to actually stop someone committed to an act like that

Yeah, given that the Villa fans now have his name and address he's probably been placed on remand for his own safety and quite happy about it.

His family have all moved out already, like you say hopefully before these attacks took place.

A proper numpty,who,thankfully,didn't look capable of any real harm......he just looked like someone who suffered a moment of madness that was probably brought on by an alcohol fuelled red mist.He will regret that decision for the rest of his life.

However,i hope this is seen as a very serious warning,as the next wanker who get an idea to do something similar might not be as harmless.

Huge credit to Grealish for the way he handled everything though,he looks quite the character.
