Grealish attacked on the pitch(update p33)

He was at the game with his dad
I can’t get my head round that at all
I thought he would be with a load of knobhead mates probably coked up and goaded into it
What was his dad doing to prevent his fuckwitted son jump onto the pitch?
He’s been trying to get him to leave home for years... he probably helped him onto the pitch knowing he would be rid of him when he was locked up!

A fine if it's a first offence. A maximum of 6 months if it's not (I'm presuming the charge is common assault).
The punch from behind would probably move it out of fine territory.

It will be battery as he hit him (same max sentence), although the effective max is 17 weeks, assuming a guilty plea at the first opportunity.

Battery/common assault, for a first offence, with no discernible injuries to the victim for someone with no similar previous convictions; a community order, most likely.

Thanks.
The punishment seems about right then.
I wondered if there would be added punishment as he attacked a footballer but it seems not.

Serious question: Why do you think it is lenient ? The government have announced that they will be stopping all custodial sentences of 6 months or less. So next season a fan will not be going to prison for the same offence (if the daft cow is still in power and they push their idea through)

Why do you think it isn't lenient? Firstly he broke the law by running onto the pitch, then punched someone in the face from behind, meaning he fell forward without any real time to break his fall due to the surprise of the attack. Luckily he wasn't in the street or him falling forward could have been a lot more serious.

I actually agree there is no point sending someone to prison for such a short amount of time. I have just watched the news and some psycho who threatened people with an electric saw in a Sale pub only got two years, in spite of having an appalling record of pervious offences. I think we need mandatory minimum sentences for offences. They can be increased at the judge's direction but people have to know if they commit a certain crime what is the minimum term they will face. At the moment it is a bit of a lottery similar to refereeing decisions.

Stewards on the whole are fucking useless.

In SS3 they just stand around doing nothing.
They get in the fucking way, that's all they do. On Saturday one was taking notes from a middle-aged lady who I assume had a problem but doing it sideways in the middle of the tunnel causing a blockage. His mate was stood at the pitch end watching a further blockage as it was selfie city so people couldn't get to their seats.

Fast forward to the final whistle, same 'pitch end' steward decided he'd block/get in the face of 2 couples walking down the segregation area, thought he was asking for a punch, he was acting like a right twat.

Darren Gough reckons ex service men should be stewards at the football

Not in itself a bad idea. Pay them a decent wage

But he then said it could help with PTSD.

Is he qualified to say such?
Nowt to stop veterans applying. Not sure it's the best job to help with PTSD.
