Fair enough, but I’ve given my reasoning for that, which is that he started virtually all of the big games, and I’m struggling to see how that doesn’t make him as described and I’m yet to see a cogent argument why that does not from any quarter. I’m basing and bolstering my opinion based on the facts.
On the basis he wasn’t at the heart of that endeavour then by that token neither were Walker, Dias, Ake or Stones because they all played less minutes than Jack in the PL. And only two of them started both Finals. I guess that would simplify the song about the ‘best defence in Europe’, if none of them were at the heart of the Treble. it’s a strange metric to apply to such an incredible team achievement, especially as a supporter. It’s a bizarre state of affairs when Manchester City fans are trying to run down the achievements of a player whose minutes played in the PL would make the first XI in 2022/23, as well as starting both finals in a treble winning season. I’d say that was at the heart of the team.
I happen to think that such an achievement requires so many stars to align, with so many moving parts, in such intense and demanding circumstances that anyone who played a significant role deserves nothing but adulation, respect and our never ending gratitude as supporters. You plainly do not; it’s no biggie, we all have different perspectives on these things.
