Grealish left out of the CWC squad (pg34)

When we signed Jack, he’d played more games in the Championship than the Premier League. I think that’s always been part of his mindset at City; he doesn’t have the mindset of a player at a top club, he’s always come across like he can’t believe he’s here.

He doesn’t play with the intensity or consistency of having to turn up at an elite level twice a week. He’s happy to just do it twice a month and have a good time in between.

He’s a good lad and a good player but we need more than that.

For all his supposed jack the lad persona I've always had the nagging feeling that he's never truly believed himself that he's good enough for us. Some players would not have given a flying fuck about the price tag and who they're sharing a dressing room with but I don't think he's one of them.

Such a shame, a really nice and decent bloke, an extremely talented individual, but Pep hasn’t got where he has by not knowing what’s what, he is a ruthless but also very decent man, and it seems that Jack had been unable to meet Pep’s exacting standards. Ultimately we haven’t quite been the right club for Jack, but he has definitely contributed

In all seriousness, I hope he’s alright and if he isn’t, I hope he will be alright in the near future. He’s always come across as a good man.

Because they didn’t cost £100 million

Not quite it's because he's the one who gets the headlines. He was bought three years ago now, I think? Everybody knows he's no longer in Peps plans for whatever reasons they're just trying to get a rise out of him. He added he fought to get Jack here, then to keep him ( Which sounds like the club wanted shut of him before this season ) so he has no problem with him..... although he obviously does lol.

He's had his moments but overall a bad signing and a massive waste of money. He was typically over-hyped because he's English.
Who wanted him .
Who signed him .
Who did a check on his off the field activitys ?
It was there in black & white from his A V days .
A collective cock up of wasted money .
They knew what they was getting .
Not just Jacks problem .

Supporters choose which media stories they want to believe all based on their bias towards a player.

He's suddenly turned into Gazza according to some:-)
Yeah, forums are the modern day version of old women gossiping about the town bicycle.

Some people are probably privy to snippets of information and a combination of speculation and Chinese whispers takes that initial snippet and turns it into, as you say, Grealish is the new Gazza.

Maybe he is, but my own bias because I like Grealish as a person and a footballer is that these issues are wildly exaggerated.

Clearly he's done something to piss Pep off because Pep's treatment of him this season seems to indicate that.

I think this gets to the heart of the demonization of Grealish, because to defend Grealish is to criticize Pep's treatment of him by implication.

Or, to put it another way, in order to defend Pep's treatment of him it's helpful to spread the narrative that Jack is a bad apple.

I don't care about any of that. I'm willing to consider the possibility that Grealish seems to be the type to have an opinion and to voice it, and Pep is the type to take it personally.

But City fans smell blood in the water and Grealish appears to be on the way out, so we're at the he was shit anyway, a poor signing, only had a few good games, probably a pisshead, stage.

I have a nagging feeling that Jack will prove the naysayers wrong next season.

Jacks main problem is lack of form the last few seasons.
Everything else is all rumours.

He's still has good has Doku & Savinho on the piss or not lol!

I'm sick of reading posters justifying his time here with shit like - "he was great in the treble season. He draws fouls and gets a free kick. He's great with kids, especially disabled kids. It's not my money so I don't care he cost 100m", etc.

Some people have no value of money. We took a big gamble paying a British record 100m and he's been a failure on the whole. His basic salary for 4 seasons is over 60m. Let that sink in! Sixty million quid for what? A solid contribution to the treble winning season? And sporadic half hearted performances since. He's took the piss, imo, big time!

So when do we believe Pep (check out his rant)? And when do we just natter like fish wives about "adhd", alcohol, partying, diet, womanising....etc?
I think that there are credible sources which say Jack's making some poor lifestyle choices.

I believe Pep when he says he likes Jack and wants to help him but my feeling is that maybe both Txiki and Hugo might have taken this out of Peps hands. Basically, he's got to shape up or ship out.

I think Jack may well have some issues (my son has mental illness problems, so I can recognise some of the signs) he's super talented but lacks self confidence and motivation (as is my son) so has a spiral of self destructive behaviour which confirms that "I'm shit at everything". The club can only go so far to help with this. Its an elite environment and much as think Pep wants Jack to improve and stay on, we can't keep carrying passengers on big wages.

I of course don't have the option to transfer my son out, so we carry on supporting him as best we can.

I think the struggle this season will have got everyone's attention and they will make decisions, as they should.

That's my interpretation of what's been said and is apparent.

Could be bollocks of course...

It's safe to say his time in City will be over very soon however his contributions especially during treble seasons will never be forgotten and i'm willing to defend this stance to very end if i have too.

So thank you for memory Jack and good luck for you next club (hopefully you only play terrible against us next seasons)
