You could say the same about Mahrez and I think Pep gives certain players a license to express themself. Jack has been the opposite though and he has said before how he is doing what is asked of him which is ball retention quite clearly.
When did he say is is doing what was asked of him?

It might have been an after match interview, he was asked about numbers and he said he never had amazing numbers and does what is asked of him by the manager. Meaning Jacks style of play Pep is asking for, which I'd think was pretty obvious otherwise he wouldn't get near the team as he did. KDB said when leaving that he was one of the few players pep allowed freedom to. That is your clearest indicator (other than what we see with our own eyes on match day) that the way our players play, that is based on instructions from the manager and some players not given the freedom of others.

The guy is probably upset and he’s a right to be.

Calling out dickheads on the Internet isn’t going to help but I can understand wading in.

Think of the thousands of shit abusive comments and messages he’s probably had since leaving Villa.

For his own mental health getting off social media completely is probably the best option.

I think Grealish is a great player in that role, just never gonna happen with Pep who loves structure above all else (which in itself is odd having managed Messi)
I hope he finds somewhere he can be happy ON the pitch again.
Good luck lad, all the best

Tbf what makes the structured Guardiola teams work is having the one man with the freedom to break it open. Messi was that for Barcelona and De Bruyne was that for City. We had a tendency to look lost without KDB recently as nobody (outside of Foden last season) was willing to be the one to take the reigns.

Can't help but wonder what would have happened if Grealish got that role, but I also wonder if by the last season or so, it was just a case that other players showed more in training and simply wanted their spot more.

So his role was never to score or assist but to receive the ball, pass back or run sideways. Funny Pep never told the same to Sane, Sterling, Docu or Savinho to name a few. Perhaps, just maybe Grealish didn't have the skill set to go past people or improve his goal and assist stats.

I'm racking my brains over this, can someone help me out here - he says he's scored 3 goals in his last 3 appearances over 45 mins? Which 3 are these, am I missing something?

How far back do we have to go for his last 3 goals (genuinely), and does that include England as well?

No, didn't say that once. His role was to be disciplined, draw defenders in and then by paying it back or sideways there should be space with him being doubled up on. Watch Dokus game closely and Savinho, they both very often pass it backwards, because they attempt to get around their defender at different times it is largely ignored just how often they go backwards, rewatch the cup final if you can stomach it.

He may not have had that skill set and us throwing him left wing when his position was central previously was us trying to mould him into something he wasn't. As in my original post though, the stat shaggers ignore anything else he does, assisting the assists which he done many times because his numbers were never amazing. Footy is more than numbers.

He is going to go nuclear when he leaves.

He can dress his season up all he wants with stats to suit his narrative but at the end of the day he has been poor for 2 seasons, went over a year without a goal and it's evident as day that I think his lack of professionalism has rumbled Pep after the treble.

If he was a foreign player he would be getting slaughtered but because he is Jack the lad, one of us, loves a pint and a rave, some in this country make out as if we and Pep have ruined the second coming of George Best.
