Grealish left out of the CWC squad (pg34)

Wonder is there anyway back for him?

Maybe this is a kick up the arse he needs?

Probably gone but I do love a comeback.
I'm still not sure why he was left behind. Is it some form of punishment?
He is the only one of the PL panel not taken. The easy option for the club was to have taken him so Pep has some reason for doing it.

his house isn't far from ours. Every time we drive past I do feel a tad sorry for him. Like how must he be feeling being so obviously frozen out.

I've no idea what's happened- so many rumours. Just a shame it hasn't worked out. He's a top bloke and he wasn't a bad player at Villa. Think there may be inner demons as well which probably are helping him press a self destruct button.

Never worth £1m, but that's the power of a release clause for you.

Maybe because he is highly unlikely to be here next season and the club thought it's better he stays in England to get the ball rolling on a transfer.

My guess is there's already some movement behind the scenes and there's little point in him flying to USA, only to fly back halfway through to complete a transfer

That's quite plausible but just seems unusual for it to be announced so early and public.
There is no rush re: a transfer unless he was going to a club currently in the CWC.

So a team that didn't win the CL is better than a team that did win the CL - that's the sort of mental gymnastics required on the Grealish threads.

I reserve my bile for Nigel Clough and Danny Mills. I suspect that many of those slating Grealish on this thread were previously slating Sterling. Let's hope the haters don't find a new scapegoat to obsess about next season.
Winning the CL will include a bit of a luck, it's a cup competition after all. The centurions are statistically the best team this country has ever seen. There can be a comparison that says a team was better than the CL team.

That was supposed to be last summer. After he was left out of Fulham squad after turning up to training hungover and then being left out the euros.

He assured pep and Southgate he would spend the summer working hard and would force his way into both plans. Even posted some great photos of him on holiday working very hard!

He has burnt his bridges and thankfully there is no way back.

Winning the CL requires a great bit of luck. Look at Madrid or Chelsea for that matter!
And I would die on the hill that Centurion should have won at least a CL and those legends in Silva and Aguero at least deserved that.

So attributing the CL to Grealish is a wrong parameter to justify his value.
He was lucky to be part of a treble winning team and everyone was part of it.

If Akanji hadn’t place that forward pass to Bilva where his cut back went to Rodri or Ederson who made that last min save we wouldn’t be talking about that CL win.

They delivered on their transfer fee and then some. Grealish didn’t. He is a nice chap and deserves a nice farewell but let’s not rewrite history.

and Jack alone was responsible for the cl win? That's like saying the octopus and Managla were responsible for Pellegrini's PL title. I mean why not? they were part of the team, right? That's the logic we are going by, correct?
No, they weren’t. Mangala and Fernando were at Porto when Pellegrini won the league.

There can be, but I'd say the team that won the CL had a bit more nouse when it came to winning a competition like that.

Sometimes you need a bit of luck..but there was no luck involved in beaten Bayern, Real Madrid and Inter. That's a real gauntlet and we did it. Knowing how our previous teams went out of the competition, I'd say you can make a good case wouldn't have got through that gauntlet.

At the end of the day, we'll never know. Picking up 100 points is impressive, but not all seasons in the league are the same. It can be weaker overall sometimes and you could consider that a "bit of luck" too.

We'll never know if our treble winning team could've picked up 100 points if they played when our centurions did. Just as we can't say our centurions would or wouldn't have gotten through those teams our CL winners did.

I know he’s dropped off a bit, but never worth £1M seems unnecessarily harsh…

Going unbeaten 13 CL games, 7 FA Cup games (20 games!), and winning ties vs Bayern and Real by 3-4 goals has nothing to do with luck.

The Centurions were more consistent in the league (only in the 1st half of the season) and less consistent in the cups: lost vs Wigan... Overall, the Treble winners reached a higher level of performances (3:0 Bayern, 4:0 Real) than the Centurions.

Maybe Jack has a lot on his plate at the moment and Pep left him out for a reason other than football and that City wants to sell him, We don't know what is happening in Jack's life at the moment, all we can say is the playing time he's had this season was poor and limited.

Yes, we have seen bits in the media and Jack's lifestyle popping up and out on the lash, but also he's had a big change in his life, having a baby. Since the birth of Jack's baby, he's not been the player we all know. also injury and being out of the team did not help

Look, Jack is a great player, the treble season was his best season at City, who wouldn't party and celebrate long and hard after that moment?

I just find it a puzzle for a player of Jack's quality to fall off the cliff so quickly, maybe mental health and drink problems, or family matters? I just find it strange that it's come to this. City and Pep would have cut anybody else off and moved them out quickly if it were just down to a lifestyle and not training properly

Come on Jack, prove us all wrong and the shut the doubters up WE WANT THE JACK GREALISH SMILE BACK IN A CITY SHIRT

Does this baby have a 666 birthmark and is called Damien by any chance. ?
Fucking hell the world have babies and have to get on with life in much more trying circumstances than Jack.

Jack is very popular among the lads and Haaland's best buddy. That explains to some extent why Pep was willing to give him another chance, i.e, last season. It's over. He's approaching 30, we have plenty of players in forward positions and new players in midfield.

On the other hand not all seasons in the champions league are equal!

I take your points though. I'm probably leaning more into aesthetics rather than meat and bones

Has Pep been asked why Jack isn't there?
