Okay so he almost took pep too literally and Pep carried on playing him even though he lost confidence in himself.

Erm..... yeah still doesn't make much sense, I think the only thing that is known is everyone is guessing and making up scenarios even if they fall apart with a bit of logical questioning, maybe one day we will find out exactly what went on.
That’s why I said I have no idea, and my best guess was it was more Jacks personality not the rumours. That isn’t what you took from it though. You too one little bit out and ran with it, are you a journalist ?

No I just said it didn't make much sense to me, it probably reads harsher than I meant, if so my apologies.
Personally I don't think his performances have wavered greatky over the seasons and most of the squad have been poor last season. Footballing reasons don't make much sense.
Anyhow if it was off the field stuff why was he picked for some big games.
I would have expected the odd run out when in the lead to keep the press at arms length. It genuinely baffles me.

He’s a great player, but a maverick and possibly the worst fit for our team/playing style unfortunately. Could imagine him being outstanding at a club like Tottenham or on an even bigger stage club like Real where they pretty much let their flair players do what they want. That’s not us, Barca, Arsenal etc.
Agree with the sentiment but he’s miles off the level of player the likes of Real Madrid would recruit, he had a few good season for Villa where a big chunk of it was championship relegation level standard.

I just don’t think he’s as good what some city fans think, his price tag is a burden and not his fault, as city fans we talk about him going to other clubs and becoming this monster that he’s never been, he’s 30 in September and not suddenly gonna get any better after 20 odd years in the game.

He seems a likeable fella and wish him well.

The rumours of alcoholism etc. I have no idea about, my opinion is just that like most of us, he over indulges when he gets the chance, probably poor discipline, I doubt he’s drinking as much as most of us on here who don’t have a drink problem, I do think though as a professional elite level athlete you should be willing to make the sacrifice to avoid the ale until the summer. It’s a short career and the ale will only make it shorter.

This is what I mean, Pep obviously didn't agree as he signed him and played him a lot.

When posters slate his ability they are saying Pep cannot see what they can.
It doesn't really stand up to any kind of scrutiny.

We’d spent a hell of a lot of money on him and would have given him a chance, his first season was poor, his second was poor up until Jan then really found his niche at that time and contributed.

We didn’t have loads of options in his position due to letting Jesus and Sterling leave on the strength of him. 3rd season injury hit and inconsistent and 4th season poor. I’m not saying I know anything that Pep doesn’t, no way, just my opinion on the matter which I concede isn’t worth a wank haha

Sorry I'm not having Pep gave him bedding in time, no-one else to play time and playing poorly time over 4 seasons when chasing titiles/trophies, there is no point arguing over it, Pep rated him as a player end of. Some supporters may not tate him, that's okay but the mental gymnastics ain't working.

I couldn’t give a fuck if I’m honest, it’s not 4 seasons, only one season where he was an automatic starter, I’m not giving mental gymnastics it’s just an opinion on a thread about the said player on an internet forum, and I’m certainly not arguing about a multi millionaire footballer. I’m not arsed. I’ve never even said Pep didn’t rate him.

We wouldn’t have paid £100m if he didn’t.

So pep rates him and you don't? Which is kinda what I said. also i said some supporters. Anyhow let's hope that Pep doesn't sign anymore players that only were automatic choices for 1 season.
We don't actually have too many players that are automatic choices btw.

Yes exactly that, I just happen to have an opinion and as I said it doesn’t matter one jot what I think. And it’s not that I’ve never rated him, maybe Pep doesn’t either now and that’s why he’s hardly played recently and why he’s been left at home.

Bingo!

if he was as great as many think, top level clubs would line up to get him on the cheap right now instead of waiting if he is available on a cheap loan where we pay his salary or part of it.

best outcome would be Saudi move but not sure his supposed alcohol problems would mean a significant issue. his salary can be matched there, and they paid decent sums for lesser players over there, but imagine him turning up drunk for a training there are different laws there lol could cost him a hand literally.

still think Howe and Newcastle could be a good chance for him, under Howe he may regain some form, but the Newcastle pubs will be busy if he goes there lol and again Saudi owners may hate any publicity of drunk superstar and feels like Barcodes has to check every penny they spend due to PSR so they want more of value signings rather than riskier highly paid ones like Grealish...

if its Italy, then it will be loan with option to buy thats not mandatory, so wont come to anything and sure as hell they would only pay 20-40% of his salary and tiny loan fee.

but we need to sell now as next summer he ha only 12 months left, would be sick if we end up loaning him out for last 24 months of contract and then leaving as free agent summer 2027.

Clubs are about to miss out on a football legend here. They should be falling over themselves if they know how good Jack is. Guys get it together, sign him up before its too late

whats the schedule for him given he is missing out on CWC. so he has been in holiday mode since for more than a month now since our last PL game which would mean he would need to report to training something like end of next week?

obviously we will have no one around in Etihad Campus apart from maybe youth setup as all our first team players/staff will start their deserved holiday as soon as we are out of CWC which might not be for two more week. so wouldnt expect back anyone in Manchester before early August.
but wonder if likes of Phillips, Grealish, Walker need to turn up early July and some youth coach putting them through drills lol because the alternative is them having 2/2.5 month holiday which make zero sense and not beneficial for them either.

It's a great accolade to have, but that treble winning season will be the only plus when his whole career is looked back on, one could argue he's messed up the rest of it for some reason, but not the first and won't be the last
Most players in the world would swap their careers for what Grealish has achieved

City will have people there to do medical tests and start their pre season training.

Yes they would, in more ways than one, especially being able to play at the best club in the world, then to be part of a fantastic squad that achieved and won so many things, and also being able to be pictured in some uncompromising situations looking worse for wear, after being pissed up, yea you are right, quite a lot of players probably would swap if they could get away with it for as long as he did
