He dug out Jack, I distinctly remember him saying on tv that he wanted "the treble Jack" back.
That said it all to me. It's a huge statement to make about a senior player, it's a huge criticism.

I completely understand where Pep was coming from because even though he was played left wing during the treble season he was moving in and out towards the penalty area, tracking back working very hard. In The following season his work dropped off a cliff and he was less mobile and just kept recycling the ball to Gvardiol or Rodri.
It's like he stopped working hard and stayed out wider.

Anyway the treble Jack didn't come back and he slowly dropped out of favour with Pep.

I don't think we should send him out on loan and pay most of his salary because what ever value Jack has will only diminish as he gets older and nearer to the end of this contract, we should endeavor to sell him for a small fee and get him off the wage bill.
Why is it a huge anything? You can't believe that Pep and Jack hadn't had many conversations about it beforehand? Pep knew he could be better, Jack knew it, both parties (presumably) wanted that to happen. Sadly it didn't but I can't see how any of it is Pep s fault, it's entirely down to Jack.

If you want a comparison for "huge criticism" just look over at the other side of town with Rashford & Sancho especially.

Managers don't criticize their own players in interviews mate. Pep did criticize Jack, one of his senior players.
He criticized his current playing efforts.

If you don't think that's a big deal then okay. It's your opinion.

Right so he played a large part in winning the treble. Does that mean we just keep him around forever like he’s our treble ornament?. It’s best for both parties if he leaves.

I don't mind him staying and turn it over.
What exactly is he going to turn over? he has given us his best, like literally, what you see or have seen is what you would always get, it's not going to get any better than this. You really think we could have kept Rodwell and turned him into Rodri? or Mangala and turned him into Maldini? You keep a player like Mangala if you are fine with the odd own goal here and there, the clumsy defending and the odd moment of defensive brilliance, unfortunately those odds don't get you the title.

3 seasons is enough to realize that a professional player past 25 has given you all he can, you either get used to that level of performance or you come to the realization that perhaps its best if both parties part ways. No ill intent, no media backlash, just an amicable decision for club and player to go their separate ways.

It is the only option that he leaves.
Whatever has happened between Pep and him has made his City future over.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting we keep him, at least not that I’ve seen. His race is definitely run here.

Edit: just seen a poster say he should stay so that’s me told!

They do it all the time, it's just rare for Pep, but I refuse to believe that Jack took umbrage at Pep for wanting him back at his best. If Jack did, then that speaks more to his own state of mind.

He may end up being tried out at right back when there are no takers without taking a haircut more dramatic than Rapunzel, and after Josep dropped his cards face up for the world to see.

he was outstanding and the key player for me in anything we won
Good grief. The key player in anything we won.?
He started all the big games that season, including both Finals. By what metric is that not at the heart of the Treble?
By his own admission turned up in neither final. His words not mine.

Ha ha its easy to love Jack I will miss him, but he does need to slow down on the drinking.
Maybe if you are a young teen or in your early twenties it’s easy to love him but when you realise he is nearing 30 and has a kid constantly seeing him pissed up is pretty tiresome tbh.

Needs to grow up
