Grealish left out of the CWC squad (pg34)

I don't mind a difference of opinion, but I've had knobheads, literally hounding me all day, after a poster asked me why I don't like him as player for City. Shown my evidence of what ranckled with me and I've just had Chihuahuas at my ankles all day!

It doesn't matter that I gave him a fair shake when he played, but because he's a pisshead, ruined his England career and ruined his City career, he's just the bestest ever cos he put on our shirt was great for a few months a couple of years back.

But PG has tried waking him up and it's not worked out and yet the criers are up in arms about it. Nobody loves everyone who's played for the club and that's okay, but it's not okay for me not to rate Grealish!

Your entitled to your opinions

My opinion is that it's a bit pathetic to hold a grudge against someone cos they posted something negative about your team when they were literally a teenager

All the other stuff, no problem, it's a fair opinion.

I've got a feeling nobody will come in for him because his wages are too high and he will still be here next season.

Even on loan I don't see anyone paying more than £100k a week. If we have to pay him £200k a week to go on loan, even £150k a week, we might as well keep him.
Unfortunately that's the highly likely scenario.

Still better than Doku and Savio imho. Neither of them makes that tackle on Salah Jack made. Pep fell out of love with him for whatever reason and there’s no way back from that sadly.

I didn't use his stupid tweets as a REASON to hate the guy, cos I don't. I just don't think he's very good for us anyway.

All I said was his tweets stayed with me. EVERYBODY on here can remember something said by someone at some part in their life that stays with them for some reason. Many people on here are bullshit artists if they deny that.

Grealish was a (yes, young) professionally paid player who made comments that stayed on the net until he scrubbed them. So, work out how long ago he scrubbed them cos that only happened just before he joined us. So, all this "he was 16" means nothing if he scrubbed them at 24/ 25!

See the logic??

I don't understand what part of my being irked is unacceptable to anyone else, but whatever.

So a single tackle that was made 2 years ago makes him better than Doku or Savinho for us now?

Okey dokey.

Raheem turned out to be a bargain for us, a bona fide City legend. Like every player, he peaked and went into decline. We were lucky to see him at his very best, and shouldn't criticise him for not maintaining that level.

His stats in his last two seasons stand well above those of most of our current players, Jack Grealish being the most obvious.
He was a very good player on his day but calling Sterling a “bona fide city legend” is mental.

two much maligned players in sterling and mahrez produced much more than grealish ever did for city.

Yet grealish has far more fans who will not have a bad word said against him. Don’t really get it
Mahrez, maligned?

In his first season maybe a few people weren’t sure, but after that he was universally thought of as one of our best players wasn’t he!

Anyone who is a regular member of any title or trophy winning side is a club legend. They are the history makers who put the club where they are, and should be celebrated accordingly.

I'm not a fan of the term 'legend'. It's thrown about too easily in football, and the benchmark is far too low, but Raheem Sterling played a very important part in our recent history.

That’s my point mate.

The word legend for me should be reserved for the very cream of the crop. Of recent generation we’re talking Silva, Kompany, Aguero, Kev, Gundogan

After the penalty miss against Liverpool a lot of posters on here just had it in for him. They said he was selfish, lazy hence he got the ridiculous nickname of “ffs” mahrez.

I agree mahrez was one of our best players but i never got the feeling he was totally appreciated by a lot of city fans on here

Pep is so contrary i could see him trying to rehabilitate him into the team as a project

You're right...The word legend is thrown about far too easily nowadays. The simple fact is that modern football fans generally look at 'winners' as legends or 'heroes'.

To be fair, I think that any youngster who watched Raheem at his best at City would put him straight into that category. Just the same as I did with Bell, Lee, and Summerbee!

Personally, I think modern footballers are all just lads doing a very well paid job very well, and doing very well off the back of it!

I'm seeing a pattern here; you can't seem to mention Grealish on this thread without others mentioning Sterling.

Is this some sort of retribution by Sterling fans against Grealish fans for how he was treated by some Blues back when?

there’s a common thread in that both were very promising English players who never reached reached their potential and attracted a lot of abuse from rival fans after coming to city.

Both also divided our own fans somewhat, for various reasons.

I think he was by the time he left. Mahrez was a huge player for City. So many vital moments.
