Great article in the Independent

Sorry...tried to read it but I think the media has written so much shite about us in the past that I am now incapable of reading a single article whether its for or against....i find I no longer need others to approve of or qualify what I already know about my club....their opinions count for so little.
i have the same feeling. such pure compliment just pops out in front of me amid so much doubt and criticism and sneering and whatever. it's just too to handle for the moment.

If I could understand a word of it I might agree with it!!

Would someone please enlighten me what the writer is talking about?

The article was written by James Lawton-chief football writer for the paper.
it basically says..

My name is James Lawton, for the past two seasons i have grasped every opportunity to slag off manchester city football club and poor scorn on their efforts to move to the top of the premier league. i have laughed at them, took the piss out of their spending and constantly advised mancini that you cannot buy success.

Only two months ago i did a nasty little peice entitled"Citys flawed ambition can only drive the game mad"advising my readers for the upteenth time that "you cannot simply throw money at players of disparate skill and expect a smooth result"

i am now forced to write a positive article on city, having nothing to moan about after their brilliantly effective dismantling of champions league opposition away from home. i offer no apology to mancin for doubting his managerial ability. i am now, finally, a David Silva fan.he,s a quite a good player isn,t he?

I couldn,t bring myself to comment AT ALL on citys 6-1 drubbing of utd, even tho i am the chief football writer i had nothing to say on the match of the season so far. but now i,ve turned full circle and city are great. i am a hypocrite,my name is jame lawton.chief football writer of the independent.

Bravo Denis,bravo

Around a week ago Patrick Barclay, a football writer who unlike Lawton doesn't feel compelled to use three words when one will do, admitted that he had been wrong about Mancini.

It says a great deal about Lawton that he has effortlessly changed positions on Roberto and our team more generally, without having the good grace to issue a similar mea culpa.

A similar aknowledgment is even more called for when it comes to Mario, who has been the recipient of a number of personal and unpleasant attacks from Lawton, without any apparent desire to scratch below the surface as to the root causes of any putative behavioural issues.

I have no issue with people writing what they believe, even if I profoundly disagree with what they have written, but I cannot accept a volte face of this magnitude without any degree of contrition from Jimmy boy, as without any aknowledgment of his own piss-poor judgement on City over the last three years, that article merely looks like an attepmpt to bask in our glory, and quite frankly the last person I want gatecrashing that particular party is James Lawton.

So in summary, fuck off Lawton you spineless, slippery ****.

Now this hear is brilliant.

Villarreal, minus roughly half a first team that in the most robust of their good fortune could hardly guarantee a single place in their opponents' line-up,

Sorry, but this, and other similar phrases that litter this article, are just so much wordy tripe.

I'd bet a pound to pinch of shit the fucker was stoned when he wrote it.

If so then he is permanently on the bong, because every article he writes is hallmarked with pretentious and long-winded language. Lawton is a dreary show-off.

Interesting article for the u-turn on the part of the journalist concerned if not for any insight or illumination it offers. For example, I wonder when these ale-house-pundits-with-a-platform will begin to grasp that whilst Silva, Ballotelli and Ageuro are the obvious stand-outs, it is the work of the ever-improving Milner, Kolorov, Richards, Clichy, Barry, Dzeko and Lescott, blended with the consistency of the likes of Kompany, de Jong and Zabaleta that gives these people the platform to show off their skill. That's where Mancini's real success lies.
