Greg dyke says he will be depressed if city win the league

Re: Greg dyke says he will be depressed if city win the leag

As already said he's a former Rag director for starters - then look at our rivals - are they all peppered with English ( not British ) players who play REGULARLY ( not sure you can make a case for Wio and Smalling as regulars at the swamp for starters )

What Greg Dyke is doing here is airing his Rag tendencies and trying to court popular favour after his report the other day went down like a lead balloon.

I was puzzled buy the wording of the O/P too - future tense? I thought that the report was the rambling of someone on strong medication already !!!!!!

Greg Dyke did NOT specifically say that about City and for the record Liverpool under Rodgers have bought one English player and sold four.

Dyke is still a twat anyway

Yeah but the media won't let facts get in the way of the truth will they?

‘It’s been a brilliant league this year,’ said Dyke. ‘But there are only two regular England players at City, and two or three at Chelsea, and that’s pretty depressing.’

So far that's the only actual quote from Dyke that I've managed to unearth. He mentions Chelsea as well, and he could point out that the "English contingent" at Stamford Bridge are about as old, or older than Steven Gerrard - that is well past 30. Dyke is, in fact, not making an accusation but describing a state of affairs. As someone who is charged with overall responsibility for the English national team he would find the situation not only depressing, but shameful and a national humiliation, but I would not put the interpretation on it that the Daily Mail does. I would rather ask, "why do the top PL teams feel compelled to sign foreign players to win trophies? Why are English players not good enough?" Part of the answer at least lies in the failure of the FA to invest in coaching from the earliest age, and the failure to provide facilities. Dyke may be considering this, and he's certainly considering schemes to provide more opportunities for English talent to come through. AS ARE CITY MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE. Unfortunately, another element in creating this state of affairs is the willingness of the FA to discuss the problem, but it has shown a marked reluctance to put its hands in its pocket and do anything.

To be honest you can take what Greg Dick says with a rather large pinch of salt, his history goes before him the father of breakfast TV where is appointment of Frank Bough as the face you wake up to each morning will brighten up your day, hmmm 2 months later it did when Bough was on the front page of the News of the world where a hooker had said he was sniffing cocaine off her naval wearing stockings

I think you're getting Frank Bough mixed up with Roland Rat.

''It's been a great league this year. But, if there is only one England player, maybe two (in City's team), that's pretty depressing,"

Has Dyke said something different elsewhere?

Hart, Milner, Lescott, Rodwell & Richards will probably be in the 18.

That's true, however, its unlikely we'll field more than two today, which is what he is suggesting is depressing for the English game.......its not a personal attack on us,its a factual comment, and consequence,on the state of the National team and the subsequent quality available to such.
