Grenfell Tower block disaster

What crime has been committed though?

They’re awful cunts the lot of them but is it illegal?

Agree, some people are horrible but what about the mass jokes that fly around when things happen? Are those people going to be pursued too? I'm sure everyone heard a rather misplaced helicopter joke the other week!

Horrible people but let's not waste resources trying to find and arrest people for being morons when in London someone is murdered nearly everyday and nothing is being done about it.

Playing devil's advocate, how it is any different to burning effigies of Guy Fawkes? Or the recreation of the Great Fire of London that takes place each year?

It's interesting that you mention murder. It really struck a chord with me this morning that some dick heads behaving like children in their garden was the lead story on the news this morning and someone being stabbed to death was second.

Unfortunately being a **** isn't a crime yet so they haven't done anything they can be charged with.

A race crime lawyer was on telly yesterday, said CPS would be powerless to prosecute as a hate or racially motivated crime.

Still the cunts deserve what they get if anything, wankers

Im not sure burning down london every year would go so under the radar to be fair. As for Guy Fawkes, didn't he try and blow up the king? Not sure thats really comparible to 70+ people being burn't alive in their homes in a horrific tragedy.

I would say because it is fresh in the mind for one,
Secondly Guy fawkes night started as a celebration of the event and part of an act of parliament called thanksgiving night, a national celebration, now as time gone on some people don't bother with it as it is a celebration of killing catholics in essence, acceptable in sell enlightened times but seen as tasteless now

So when are the twats who bought the flammable cladding going to be in the dock? No doubt their lawyers have ensured that it’s the scapegoats the fire service show first before the people who are directly responsible are interrogated.

It would seem that you have already decided who is to blame. Surely it is for the enquiry to determine the cause of the disaster, decide where lessons need to be learned for future, apportion blame where appropriate and allow the CPS to prosecute where needs be.

If you are designed or a contractor it is very unlikely in this day and age of such through checks that you can get away with deliberately fitting unapproved materials in a building. My guess is, and its just a guess at this stage i might add. Is that the cladding had been approved for its use in that situation. If that's the case then it is likely that little if any blame can be apportioned to the contractor or designer. But we shall have to wait and see the outcome of the enquiry.

Just listened to some legal beagle outlining the ins and outs of the appropriate statute and it includes 'causing distress'!' Now my question is Who is to decide when, where and to whom has distress been caused? I think this opens up a pathway to nail City with a public order charge by causing distress to so many in the RDAHMeedya!

Just a bit of banter, anyone claiming racial overtones must be one of them remainers. Just because the faces were brown, ffs we'd run out of white crayons..... Some sensitive souls think making fun of children being incinerated is offensive, not us, anyfink goes in the cheeky cockney world of alf garnett wannabes. Gertcha.
Anyway, thanks to the army of barrack-room lawyers who have sprung to their defence clutching " semantics for dummys" book of excuses, and collections by the edl, there wont be any worries, not as if the scrupulously neutral met. police are going to be a bit careless with choke-holds and tasers "know what i mean guv" .
I feel sorry for the editors of the sun and mail and telegraph, desperate to create another heroic group to lionise but wary of a " decency " outbreak affecting advert revenues.
Meanwhile, the victims of criminal negligence are no nearer justice, the perpetrators no nearer facing the consequences of their behaviour, and probably never will given the track record of tories holding tories to account. Before I go, have you heard the one about ( insert whatever racist, homophobic, jewish, islamic scottish, irish welsh etc ) floats yr boat

I'm not sure that it's criminal, but it's among the most distasteful things I've ever seen.

Sad people actually took time to make the thing. They've clearly not got much going on in their lives.

This is a slippery slope.

“Causing distress” by offending people as a crime would be the end of free Western society.

It's completely different. The recreation of the Great Fire (which I think was a one off for a big anniversary rather than an annual event) was a commemoration and the spirit in which it was carried out was in remembrance. I'd probs accept that people might be of the opinion it might not be the best way of doing it but the act in itself was well meant. What these scumbags did was celebrate and mock the deaths of 72 people and they made it abundantly clear that their main motivation for that was that a large proportion of the victims were non white and or/poor. I'm in agreement that a crime probably hasn't been committed but I think it's still ok to call out a grossly antisocial act like this for what it is. Based on what we know, it probably isn't something most people would expect the legal courts to deal with but I don't have a problem at all with however their peers and wider society wants to view them and deal with them from now on. I'm really struggling to wrap my head around how people could behave in this way. It was genuinely depressing to watch.

amazing how some would rather that didn't happen
I think they are pretty obviously horrendous individuals and if bad things happen to them, I won't be unhappy about that in the slightest. I wouldn't be entirely comfortable with them being charged with a crime though and I think there is an argument that it is a waste of police time and money to pursue it in the way that they have. I still go back to the person who posted it on twitter. He saw this on a private WhatsApp group. If he looks at that and thinks bunch of childish twats and deletes it then you don't have lots of people who have friends and relatives killed in the fire upset by it. He could even have just gone straight to the police and reported it. What he did was look at it and think, I am hugely offended by this so I am going to make sure lots of other people see something offensive. He has deliberately disseminated offensive and upsetting material. They should charge him as well, teach people that they don't have to instantly put everything they see on social fucking media.
