Grenfell Tower block disaster

I think theres plenty of people on the far right, sorry I mean "classic liberals" who are absolutely dying to see charges brought to add more credence to their claims that freedom of speech is under attack. Literally no idea why their concern about freedom of speech only rears its head when it's about protecting those whose sole aim is needlessly offend others or promote an agenda that limits the freedoms of other people, but hey ho that's where we are at the moment.

I don't think any charges will be brought which seems correct. Sounds like they had reasonable expectation the video was being exchanged between a closed off group of like minded dickheads. They messed up though, it got out and now other people will have the opportunity to exercise their freedom of speech in return by calling them out for the hateful racist bastards that they are.
Bump. Charged

Anyone know why Grenfell tower is still standing? Surely all the physical investigations to the tragedy have been completed despite the enquiry still being on going. I can't beleive for a second that they are going to renovate it and relet it? So why are the authorities keeping it up with it acting as a terrible reminder looming over the local area. Wouldn't it be best to just demolish it ASAP and put a memorial garden in its place?

Because the local council who should be pushing for this to happen ... Don't Care and never did .... is the correct answer and I claim my prize

Well the inquiry has released it's conclusions and they have put the onus on the actions of the LFB.

Somehow this doesn't seem a suprise, a lot of noise from that local government during the inquiry to nudge the findings that way.

The LFB action plans are directed by local authorities fire risk assesment.

Feels to me like LFB are being scapegoated for those that allowed, supplied and put up the unsafe clading in the first place.

All the deaths were a tradgedy that could possibly have been avoided if the FBUs recondmendations over high rises and fire safety hadn't been ignored year on year and local councils vetted what they were allowing to happen in these tower block refurbs.

Prior to Grenfell

Johnson closed 10 London fire stations
Cut 27 London fore engines
Laid off 552 London firefighters

He ignored the LFEPA and 94% of Londoners wishes in doing this.

When challenged on this he answer was "get stuffed"

This is a cover up designed to exonerate Johnson.

Why aren't the Tory run local council being held to account for putting that cladding on Grenfell? They put money before people.

Kensington and Chelsea council had £274m in reserves but refused to put sprinklers in the towers.

Absolutley fucking disgraceful and a stitch up of honest brave fireman to cover others arses.

So is this finding a result of the fire brigade telling people to 'stay put'? In which case, I think I'd agree that they have to take some of the blame. What's the average response time for the fire brigade to respond to a call? 15/20 minutes? Surely that's enough for 90% of people to leave the building. I get that blocks and crushes happen when people are rushing to get out but telling people to leave promptly and orderly seems to me to be far better advice than 'staying put'.

why are they not focussing on the local authority morons ???

That Dany woman was not coming across well I have to say...always sounded corporate and had an answer for everything ...

Retiring on a few million quid too

One LFB serving fire fighters view. The attack by the Telegraph on LFB is based upon the first part of the enquiry - the response to the 999 calls. We have yet to have reports into the Government involvement - local and national - and the cause of the spread/use of cladding etc. Its like they have read chapter 1 and think they have the definitive review of War and Peace - they obviously have their reasons.

As a Firefighter who attended Grenfell, I am truly disgusted by what this country has become. This picture sums it up perfectly. Man who closed 10 Fire Stations, cut 30 Fire Engines and 500 Firefighters, not to blame, but Fire Brigade cut to ribbons, fully to blame. #Grenfell
