Grooming gang scandal

So, we’ve had a full and open inquiry, that the Conservative Party undertook, and came up with multiple recommendations that the Conservative Party chose not to implement. Now we have the same Conservative Party asking for a further inquiry because they think that the Labour Party are somehow complicit?
Yep, they're obviously politicising this issue. To my knowledge, there have been no widespread cases of grooming emerge in the last year or so (and if there were, no-one on here has cared enough to start a thread about them), but the second Labour get into power, there is this huge push from the right wing to deal with an issue that they have spent the last ten years doing nothing about, with their friends in the media gleefully taking up the cause.

The only previous thread on here about grooming gangs was 10 years ago, except for one that I started about a smaller story that got 5 responses. In other words, it hasn't been a major news story, and yet suddenly it is again when Labour get into power. It's so transparently obvious that they are using these abused children for political capital.

If I was Labour, I would simply implement the recommendations from the enquiry that the Tories ignored.

They have no interest in white grooming gangs and white paedophiles, in fact they even lose dossiers of information all about them.
They have no interest in UK nationals going to live abroad (they don't even call them migrants).

They push a political agenda that suits their audience, targeting people that are not you, so you feel safe pointing the finger at minority groups: brown people, asylum seekers, the trans community, Muslims, and the disabled. By doing so, you feel safe, a part of their gang, and then you won't side against them when it comes to wholesale tax avoidance, increasing the retirement age, swathes of cuts to public services, the collapse of economic growth and the value of your earnings. In fact, all those things will be blamed on people coming here, working for nowt, exploiting services, getting 'dodgy' ops on the NHS. Then, they will sell a vision of the way Britain (and the US) used to be. They will be the ones to get rid of Johnny Foreigner and restore your greatness because the economic collapse was never really down to their governance, it was down to 'the others' because they wouldn't let you do what was needed.

They will use any means necessary, and their press will support them. Muslim grooming gang headlines are just one tool in the box.

Just Conservatives being Conservatives

Looks like next week is going to be a tough one for Starmer and Phillips. Be interesting to see how they propose to swerve this one.

Apologists for the systematic rape and torture of vulnerable working class girls who wish to add to their role of shame, get your post in now while you still can

Not sure why this is going to be tough on Starmer and Phillips, it was the current government, under the now Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper, who commissioned Baroness Casey to undertake the review, to get a better understanding of the data and to better enforce the police to do their job.

This is exactly what was asked for and nobody should shy away from what needs to be done.

Aye, well the people who use the systematic rape and torture of vulnerable working class girls to score cheap political points needn't bother, because you've already done it for them.

I am pleased that you say nobody should shy away from what needs to be done.

It is going to be tough on Starmer and Phillips because the Labour Party are up to the necks in this cover up.
Look up Raja Miah Oldham council on Youtube and listen to his testimony on this, you will understand how difficult this is for the Government.

So wanting to put a stop this ongoing abuse, get some justice for the victims and hold those responsible for the abuse and cover up to account is political point scoring is it ?
It has become political because those on the left have chosen to make it so, by playing the race card , the far right card to silence any outcry. This shouldn't be about politics.
The Labour Party I knew would instinctively champion the cause of these girls, its role in this scandal is shameful - hopefully the stone will be turned.

It's an issue that's been going on for well over a decade through multiple Labour and Tory governments, but your first thought is Keir Starmer and Jess Phillips, and moan about 'the left.' So yeah, I think you give more of a shit about bashing the Labour party and 'the left' than you do about any of the victims.

Maybe because the Labour Party deserve to be bashed.
Look up Raja Miah Oldham council on YouTube and listen to his testimony .
Starmer and Phillips know about all of this and that is why I believe they will do all they can to keep a lid on it, so yes naturally I do think of them as its their call now.

Anyone in the Labour party who did anything to cover this up deserves to be called out and ideally prosecuted. But as I said earlier in the thread, it's explicitly political that this has suddenly become this major issue on the right again the second they're not in power. 14 years to do something about it, did fuck all, including refusing to implement the recommendations of the inquiry they commissioned. Some of us were actually posting about this regardless of who was in charge at the time. Others only seem to be interested in this issue when it presents them with the opportunity to attack political rivals.

Not seen anything on a cover-up, have you got a link to anything reputable where this is being reported?

You tube , search Raja Miah - take your pick , he has a lot on there.
He has his detractors of course but offers an insight into the corruption of local politics via the muslim block vote that is a real eye opener. This carries through into rape gang cover up.

I think she will say ..
“Oh, we want to blow that little trumpet now, do we? Let’s get that dog whistle out, shall we?”

This came up a few years ago and I’m sure it turned out that the person mentioned produced no evidence, even though he was asked to contribute.

Wasn’t it him who got Musk involved, alleging, of all people, that Jess Philip was part of the cover-up?

Anyway, I’m sure if the review that this government commissioned, recommends another enquiry, then I’m sure they won’t shy away from their obligations.

Have you asked what Lucy Powell thinks…
