Seeing as there is no thread on the grooming gang scandal, its probably best i follow @blueonthru's advice and make a post i made into a thread

There should be a full national enquiry into grooming gangs, just to highlight why those on the far right are exploiting young girls for political capital

A previous piece of research from 2015 found that of 1,231 perpetrators of "group and gang-based child sexual exploitation", 42% were white, 14% were defined as Asian or Asian British and 17% black.

The problem is that the data is from only 19 out of more than 40 police forces and nearly a decade old

What I do find disturbing is this, children, often from deprived backgrounds, were dismissed as "lacking in credibility" their abusers were allowed to get away with subjecting them to horrific abuse, for too long.

The inquiry into the Telford abuse scandal, which published its report in 2022, found police dismissive of claims of abuse, with one saying "these girls had chosen to go with, I don't know, 'bad boys'".

We need finally to accept what credible research has been telling us for years: that child sexual abuse is not a “Muslim problem” but is endemic to virtually all communities. Look at the numbers: the sheer scale makes the ubiquity of abuse inevitable. An estimated one in 13 adults in England has been sexually abused as children. In 2019/20, police across the UK recorded more than 73,518 sexual offences against children, and the Home Office review itself reminds us that only around one in 10 victims actually disclose child sexual abuse to an official at the time

I have not seen one solid conclusion that people of certain ethnicities groom young girls for sex, the one common denominator as i see it is that it always involves men and a few women who are sexual deviants.

It is time we get to the real truth, far too many young girls and boys have suffered from sexual abuse and it needs to stop. it needs to stop now.

We need to hold a full national inquiry right now to stop those on the idiotic fringe of the far right spreading their poison even further.

What if it did prove that men of Pakistani origin disproportionately target and abuse non Muslim children? The data we currently rely on is not accurate enough to make any real assumptions. But if it did prove that the above was the case what would happen with the fringe far right?

All children should be protected against any sort of abuse whether it be bullying, sexual assault, knife attacks, grooming. And if the perpetrators are white black yellow whatever their race they all should be dealt with in the same way. If they are from other countries they should also be sent back to serve their sentences and never allowed into this country again. I’m not left wing nor right wing nor a racist but our children come first.

They target vulnerable children. They don't target children because of their skin colour.

The majority of children in care or known to social services are white.

I doubt you meant that as it reads.

There probably needs to be some sort of enquiry if only to ensure that the true figures, particularly around the ethnicity of the perpetrators, are properly documented and in the public domain.

The right see it as a level to attack Pakistani Muslim communities, in the same way they attack Sadiq Khan over crime in London, in a way they never did for Boris Johnson.

We also need to understand why police forces were seemingly reluctant to tackle the problem. Was it just ignorance or was it more the case that they were afraid to incite racial tensions? We saw this over that altercation at the airport, with people questioning when the brothers who attacked the police were going to be charged. Again it was used to inflame racial tension.

But above all, we need to highlight the problem of organised sexual abuse, and how to deal with it effectively, regardless of the colour, ethnicity or religion of the abusers.

Why pay for an enquiry? Times are tough. They already know what happened and the vast amount of money could be better spent somewhere else.

This is such an important point that is often lost in the noise of people arguing about statistics and the ethnicity of the gangs. Regardless of who abusers are and how you want to categorise them, abusers will always exist. It's society's job to protect the youngsters targeted by abusers. The way these girls were ignored and even actively put in a taxi and sent back to their abusers by various services is criminal in my opinion. The crimes against these kids were facilitated by those who were supposed to protect them.

We don't have the resources to protect children anymore.

Social work and care systems have been politically dismantled.

In my work I feel like I'm ignored by the authorities when I report suspected grooming/county lines activity despite them asking us to report it..

The last conversation I had with a police officer went along the lines of this;

"Do they look vulnerable?"

"Yes."

"How do you know, they could just be kids dressing like adults."

"Both looked terrified and thought I was going to attack them when I asked them if they were ok."

"They are ok then."

"My suspicions were raised as one of them paid with a wad of £20 and I over heard them saying don't look scared when you're met at Skegness."

"They could just be going on holiday and being met."

"At half nine in the evening. They look about 12 at the most!"

"Ok...We'll log it as intel."

"Can't you come out and check?"

"Don't think we've got anyone in the area..."

And then years later it will turn out you was correct and you will hear the famous ''mistakes were made but we will learn from it''.

If you really want to safeguard all children from abuse, be under no illusion that it means pouring vastly increased resources into the despised public sector. Because the Magic Bunny won't do it.

It also probably means more state intrusion into private family life to make sure, because a lot of this shit goes on in families.

It's a huge issue and not easy to eradicate for 1001 reasons.

Pity we’re so shit at conducting them wrt time and cost

If that does prove to be the case then it should be released to the public and the perpetrators should be dealt with by the full force of the law.

What we have at the moment is not acceptable, nothing has been proven and proof is needed so that legislation can be put in place to try and stop these horrific crimes.

I am always loath to appease the far right in any shape or form, I also loath political interference from mega rich American crackpots, but the issue has been raised and it needs to be addressed and done properly with no stone unturned.

We out it to all the children in the UK

Child sexual abuse is a financial issue.

It can be severely lessened with money.

People don't want to give money to the people who stop this.

It's not their fault but they hold a level of blame that is above zero.

This.

All an inquiry would achieve is lots of naval gazing whilst the issues continue.

If we want it stopping, then huge funding needs to be given to social services and police forces across the U.K. in order that all cases can be investigated.

This is exactly why I hope an inquiry would recommend to the Government that far more resources are needed to protect our children.

thank you.

You mean tackling sexual abuse is a financial issue?

Sexual abuse of children is a criminal act perpetrated by sick individuals and nothing to do with money.
