Me too.

Ultimately given the lack of critical thinking skills and intelligence among the general population, the media driven agenda and short attention spans I do wonder what his legacy will be though.

In many ways I felt the same about Sunak and May to be honest, they had their obvious faults but I did think they both were genuinely trying to do the right thing in their own way. The key difference between them and Starmer being Conservative leaders are always terrified of being booted out. Labour leaders less so, so they can be bolder in their decision making.

Labour’s biggest problem right now isn’t policy, it’s comms. Their comms has been absolutely shocking and totally lacking in strategy. I’ve been saying this for a year now and it’s not getting any better. They need to find their Campbell.

And if Badenoch says all the victims that she's spoken to want another inquiry then she hasn't spoken to enough victims.

They were never a serious govt. They kicked it into the long grass by launching the original enquiry but that backfired when they found themselves still in Govt when the report was published so they stuck it on a shelf and ignored all its recommendations.

Now when Labour came in they followed the rules of how the Govt should be run. Instead of a knee jerk response to siren callers you get a review done and then act on the suggestion of the review as has been done here. You cannot seriously run a country on whims and opinions - look at the state we were in and the state America is in now.

Same here. He has the most lacking thing in modern politics like morals and doing the right thing etc. It will probably be the end of him though, people like something more exciting nowadays. Screw politics.

Just a shame that this government spent a year or so dismissing calls for another inquiry as a far right conspiracy. Lucy Powell’s comments on the matter neatly encapsulate the attitude.

Rather blots their copybook I would say.

I don’t think any party in power can be helped with even the best comms team in the world nowadays, media and social media will constantly attack and never let up on any negative.
 
why would you politicise the reasons for/against such an enquiry, - whichever side you fall on reveals that you are a massive **** with a massive agenda - have a fkn word with yourselves - the usual know-all suspects are dismissed on the grounds that they are actually know-nowt suspects
 
Many are against another inquiry but surely everyone agrees that all people involved in any sort of cover up, whether it be social workers, police, politicians, whoever, for whatever reason , that resulted in more children being abused should be brought to justice themselves and if found to be complicate in the grooming and rape of children should receive the appropriate punishment, prison

I would have thought that many are not against an inquiry, only the few who have committed these crimes, are.

Exactly this. It was only voted against in Parliament as the Tories added it to a child welfare amendment to try and kill that bill.

The government were advised that a fresh inquiry wasn’t necessary whilst the suggestions of the last one were implemented.

At the same time, the government asked for the need for a new inquiry to be assessed.

This review came back this week suggesting that one was required, so the government started the process of the new inquiry.

It had nothing to do with social media influence, race or anything else that that particular 2 week bandwagon demanded.

Now it has been set in motion, all we have left is people moaning that they knew it’d happen. They’ll forget about it now. The political capital is now mooted and they don’t actually care what happens from here, as per the last inquires held during the las governments.
 
So if all the members of Parliament below voted against an Enquiry, can someone explain why Kier Starmer has now announced there will be one?

They deserve to be named and shamed.
