One for the train spotters or those fans with good memories.

How many away grounds have you watched a competitive City match from all four stands?

The away ends have changed at a few grounds, but I’ve definitely watched City from all four stands at Villa Park Goodison Park and possibly St James’ Park

Everton:
Gwladys Street End 1986-87 (0-0)
Main Stand Top Tier (League Cup 1987-88 0-2)
Park End 1980 onwards (upper and lower of original stand)
Bullens Road: 1995 onwards (upper and lower)

Villa
Holte End 2002-03 (0-1)
Trinity Road 2012 Charity Shield v Chelsea
Witton End 1983 onwards (upper and lower)
Doug Ellis 2000 onwards (upper and lower)

I’ve never watched City from the Stretford End or the Kops at Anfield or Elland Road. However I’ve done the other three, plus three stands at Chelsea, Birmingham, Forest and Wolves.
Even at Stockport I’ve never watched City from the Railway Stand. Ironic as it was the official away end when we played them in the league

At Newcastle I always get a bit disorientated.
For example the old open ends (0-5 in 83-84 and 1-3 in 86-87). Were they the opposite stands to where we sit now?
Similarly, when we won 2-0 in the League Cup (1994-95,) we were located down the side. Was that the bit that’s now to our left or diagonally opposite.

Anfield is the only one for me. Was in the Anfield Road End for the opening game of the 89/90 season when we lost 3-1.
In the Centenary Stand when we lost 2-1 (Carl Griffiths scored for us) and the Main Stand when Anelka got the winner.
Stood in the Kop for a 1-1 draw and a 2-2 draw.

Aside from Maine Road, surprisingly only the Old Wembley.
1968/9 Leicester,Tunnel End
1969/70 WBA, Opposite End to Tunnel.
1976 Newcastle,Main Stand where Queenie sits.
198 ? Chelsea,Opposite Stand to Queenie.

I was in the City end but remember scores of trouble outside.

Re: Grounds where you have watched City from all four stands

I've only done the 4 stands at Maine Rd but i've actually also watched our boys from the away end as well, but then I did use to work for the club many, many moons ago

It was during the Huddersfield 10-1 game and me and my mates jumped for joy each time when we scored the four 1st half goals. Got some very funny looks from the 2 or 300 Town fans

Maine road and the Etihad.
Blackburn Rovers
Burnley
Wembley (although I'm including the old wembley to make the set)
Old Trafford

I can think of a few where I've been in 3 stands too, like anfield, goodison and villa park.

The away terrace for the 0-5 was where the old Leazes terrace was, the traditional home end which was just starting to be reconstructed, that's the end where the current away section is located. The side paddock section used for the 94/95 League Cup win was part of the stand to our right in the current away section.

The old traditional away section in the 70s and 80s was the open Gallowgate terrace which is directly opposite the current section.

Had a S/T on all four sides of Maine Rd over the years but so far have never been in the CB or South Stand at the Etihad.

I've certainly been in all 4 sides of Villa Park and Stamford Bridge watching City:

Villa Park:

Holte End - 81 FA Cup SF
Witton /Doug Ellis stand - numerous times
North terrace/seats - ditto
Trinity rd stand - 2012 Charity Shield.

Stamford Bridge:-

Shed End - City v Norwich League Cup 2nd replay 75/76 on the terrace and in the current seated away section
East Stand - 4-1 win in 78/79 (Ron Futcher hat-trick)
West stand - 1-0 win Jim Tolmie free kick 83/84
North terrace - numerous times in the 70s and 80s.

Been in 3 sides of Goodison and Anfield (not the Kop or Gwladys St) and 3 sides of the Swamp (not the Stretford End) watching City. Also 3 sides of Highbury, White Hart Lane, SJP and Upton Park

Re: Grounds where you have watched City from all four stands

Been all 4 in 1 game at CoMS, but for many the away stands are in the corner so you could possibly go in two stands in one game.

I have only done it in two grounds and that was because I had home end tickets for some games or paid in the home end.

We only moved back to the Doug Ellis at Villa in 2007/08 by the way.

You're right.

What confused me was the 2000-01 League Cup game when Horlock scored the late penalty.
I was definitely with City fans in the Doug Ellis Stand, but on reflection we'd probably been given more tickets.
Later in the season I was behind the goal for the 2-2. I think Haarland scored and Ginola did that silly shirt-off celebration.

Re: Grounds where you have watched City from all four stands

We had to exchange tickets at the away ticket office for a different stand for that league cup game, I think they were meant to be North Stand originally.

Re: Grounds where you have watched City from all four stands

Leeds utd, inc the kop in 87/88-bad move that.,also incs the main stand for a reserve game, cant remember the year.

WBA- all four-1st time on the old away terrace which was huge.

Forest three stands, 4 if i can include the trent end for an england scotland u21 game with white, redmond ,hinchcliffe and lake( i think) and gazza, who was outstanding.

Notts county all four stands, inc the old terrace in 1980 for a friendly/testimonal under big mal

Everton , at least three inc the mega high third tier of main stand which terrified me cos im scared of heights..(league cup q/f 87/88).
Sheff utd, three stands.

Coventry , at least three inc central league fixtures in the 80s

Rotherham three i think, inc main stand for a reserve/central league game..

The above might all be a pack of lies due to alcohol impaired memory...sorry.

Re: Grounds where you have watched City from all four stands

Selhurst Park and Maine Road, although I did two stands in one match for the cup game in 99 in Selhurst, started out with the home fans, put that right.
