Guardian's 4-1-4-1 Kaka formation (any thoughts?)

There's a big hole in the middle of the defence. Playing those two is suicide.

This. A midfield 4 of Robinho, Kaka, Ireland and SWP will get torn apart defensively.

I don't see where the big scoop is.

Midfield could still be a bit lightweight with this setup. I reckon IF this Kaka deal came off Ireland would have much more defensive responsibility. His back-tracking, tenacity and tackling have been superb this season.

Personally I'm a big fan of the 'you score 6, we'll score 7' philosophy and would play something along the lines of a 2-2-6.

HaHa that wud give a team a few shocks. We wud probably win a few games cos teams wudnt know how to play against a formation like tht lol

its not clear where MH sees Kompany in the long term

we're being linked with so many DMs it suggests he doesn't see Kompany continuing in that role, either that or MH wants to play with two DMs

Its hard to see Dunne and Richards continuing as the CD partnership - I think we'll see at least one change there, with either Kompany or a new CD (or both) playing there

Kaka could play in a central midfield three (alongside Ireland and Kompany) or wide right in a 4-3-3

could also play as a withdrawn striker in a 4-4-2 but would that position get the best out of Robinho (wide left) ?

I'm not sure why we're still trying to get Bellamy, its difficult to see where he'll fit if we do get Kaka

Watched Villa on satellite last Saturday score a goal that demonstrated what a cool finisher and technically gifted footballer he is.Cant see him being the right height and build to play up front on his own in the premiership.A fully fit Bojinov is a far better candidate as a sole striker.

If this season has proved anything it's that Kompany alone is not enough to protect the defence. If Kaka came in then SWP would be the one who gets dropped and i think there would have to be another ball winner along with Kompany, and don't play Kompany in defence.
