Guardiola documentary - SS1

Finally got round round to watching it the other night, and really enjoyed it. It didn't really reveal anything new that I hadn't already read in any of his biographies, but it was good to see so many respected people talk so highly of him. Certainly whet my appetite (even more) for the new season.

Same, I was hoping for something new but there was no new information. And let's be honest, any program with too much air time for the weasal that is Balague is nauseating

I thought it was a bit crap, to be honest.

Other than the segment dedicated to his move from Barcelona B to the first team, nothing was really explored in that much detail.

It could have done with another 30-45 minutes to get to the heart of how he managed to influence the game so profoundly in such a short space of time.

A decent watch that got me a bit more excited again after a confusing and disappointing pre-season tour but nothing more really. It filled an hour with celebratory platitudes from talking heads, and that's it.

I bet you're fun at parties.

Almost nothing about his time in Mexico under Lillo, his drive to Rosario to spend 11 hrs talking football with El Loco himself ahead of his Barcelona appointment as B team coach or input from the Bayern board who vigorously pursued the man even while Heynckes was driving them to their treble. Felt like a rushed production with too little input from a greater variety of influences and those who worked with him.

Still, has to be invigorating for City fans & England to learn a bit more about him. The fact most knew little about his playing days (I became a fan during his Captaincy) says quite a bit

Careful. I've heard that criticising this documentary is a heinous crime.

Well, I realize some will be sensitive since he's just starting out etc. but for those who are longtime fans of the man/myth (If I had a religion, it'd be Pepism) it was mostly fluff - I feel I already knew more about him before/after the doc.

The good is that he's in England, which even for a Barcelona fan, means his journey away from our club is perhaps coming closer to an end prior to the prodigal son's return in some capacity. Although, I have thought that if there was ever a scenario where he might stay longer than his 3 years, it could be at City. However, I would caution against getting married to that idea - enjoy him while you can, I am certain you will see something marvelous transform at your club. Like he likes to say, fasten your seatbelts

While there was no revelations,or anything of real substance,it was a very positive, informative, and enjoyable piece of television - something we,as City fans, dont witness very often when it comes to the majority of things media.

That in itself gave it my seal of approval.
