Guardiola fined £20,000 for wearing yellow ribbon (p140)

Are you against the poppy then? Genuine question.
I think the wearing of a poppy is a fine tradition which shows support for all those lost in previous wars, most especially WWI and WWII. Sadly, it’s been hijacked and turned into a political point scoring exercise. I see the poppy as completely different to a symbol supporting independence for Catalonia / wherever. So, to answer your question, no, I’m not against the poppy.

Which the yellow ribbon doesn’t represent. Ffs. I bloody knew that you didn’t know why he’s wearing it.

For avoidance of doubt, Pep own words:

'I do that because in Spain two specific people who defend something like the vote, something the people in command do not agree (with), are in prison. It's unfair.

'To make a rebellion on something like that, you have to be something tough to be in prison. And they are still there. So, while they are not out, always here (points to ribbon) will be shared with me.

'Because, okay, they can suspend me for doing that, but the other people are in jail.

'If they want to suspend me — UEFA, Premier League, FIFA — it's okay.'

To make things clearer this is the ribbon tied to streets and worn for Catalan independence

What Pep wears is plain yellow to support the 2 political prisoners from Catalan

They are not the same thing.

And if they were the same one then so what? I don't care, he is catalonian and supports independence, if he wishes to express that wish, that is his business, he doesn't talk about it or brimg attention to it, and was only ever mentioned when that prick up the road shit stirred.

He's worn it all season and they decide to do this just before the cup final.

The FA is one of the most corrupt organisations in earth.

I don't think pep needs to wear it in future, if you have got half a stadium wearing them a every game it will be highlighted a lot more than just Pep wearing one. It's one in the eye for the FA if it gets well supported and you know how us blues love a flight against the establishment.

For all the blues who say it not our fight I for one will support anyone who is locked up without trial because of there political views.

Yellow Ribbon:

I do not agree that wearing a yellow ribbon appropriates and repositions the purpose of the yellow ribbon. That is just pandering to the chattering classes. The man in the street won't care about the distinction.

And for me the transitive law trumps all else here “If a is equal to b and b is equal to c, then a is equal to c.” If I wear a yellow ribbon in support of Pep and Pep wears one in support of political prisoners in Spain, then I am supporting the political prisoners too.

Anyway, I hate these sort of issues, it's a bit like Brexit, you can see valid arguments on both sides.
