Guardiola fined £20,000 for wearing yellow ribbon (p140)

For me Its actually a trivialising and hijacking of a serious cause to stick two fingers up at the Fa. Pep is not stupid he knew eventually he would receive some sort of punishment, he may even enjoy the extra publicity it provokes. Each to their own though.

Don't agree it trivialises it one bit. I'm quite sure plenty of people will see wearing yellow as more than just giving the FA the bird. Many will understand why Pep wears it and be comfortable showing support for that cause and for free speech.

So, if he decides not to wear it (or not visible) during the match you'll all think he's a shithouse?

Not for me. From my understanding Pep can wear it during press interviews etc just not on the field of play so he can still get his message and support across.

The fight against fascism in general is something that most British people would readily support. Wouldn't be surprised to see some Arsenal fans wearing a yellow ribbon if they have read up on it.

Probably already been posted, but I'm too lazy to check. Anyway...

Fair enough pal. I can fully understand a differing view point on this subject. There are compelling arguments either way.

It's not trivialising and/or hijacking anything.

On the contrary, it's quite patronising to argue that line. It implies people are not capable of complex thought. Who exactly is the simpleton that instantly forgets the real cause and suddenly comes to believe the yellow ribbon is exclusively to do with Pep and FA?

Totally agree. I'm trying to be moderate in how I talk about it but yes, its totally hijacking another cause and that's pretty much what I said last night. Like I say, would be interesting to hear the thoughts from some Catalans as I'd genuinely like to know how they'd feel about it and I also think people might be more willing to listen to them if they do have any reservations.

I don't really think it matters how or why awareness comes about if I was locked up without trial I would want as many people as possible to know about it. If Pep ends up getting bans for refusing to back down do we as supporters of the club keep quite and not show our support. We don't know yet what Peps response will be but he does come across as a man of principle. I don't think this is our fight but the FA might of just made it our fight.

Ok, but would you care if he was Arsenal's manager? It'd be still in the news and you'd be fully aware it was happening. Would you still back the cause then?

Any chance to stick two fingers up to the FA I'm in.
