Guinness shortage

Ohhh, I don't know.
He said a few items of Ratner's were "crap", so people spent a few quid more at a slightly more up-market store...... probably H Samuel's.

Guess who owned H Samuel.

As I said......
The whole group took a massive hit. Surely this good publicity for Wallace will help him go strength to strength like Schofield and Barrymore.

I love Guinness

You'd have loved that pint of it mackenzie, so smooth and creamy ..... I could have drank eight pints of it, never mind four!

They say the best pint of it in Manchester is at Mulligans bar , just off Deansgate, trouble is he's got a load of rag rubbish stuck on his walls, not nice to look at whilst you're enjoying your pint ...... the 'Salmon of Knowledge' on Lever Street don't serve a bad pint of it either, and they've got a few football screens, one being quite sizeable.

You filthy animal!
Yeah, it goes quite well with blackcurrant, although just a small squirt of it, as a big squirt overpowers the taste of your Guinness!

I was in Llandudno the other week and had a few pints of 'Guiness and black' in the Cottage Loaf pub there.

As long as you don't start drinking 'fruit' ciders I suppose I shall allow it :)

A huge chunk of the price is the Govts alcohol tax.
So how come 0° Guinness is the same price ?

They must be coining it in.
Apparently, and I don't know how true this is. But I've heard a few times now, that it's HARDER and more laborious getting alcohol OUT of a beer, spirit etc...than it is when it's brewed normally.

Hence why it's the same (ish) price to normal alcohol content products.

Yep, this. Guinness is always the last resort for me. The porter market is huge at the moment and there are so many different flavours out there.

A good Guinness is lovely but a bad one is grim.
I have the Untappd app. I’ve tried 400 stouts and porters apparently in 10 years. Guinness is far from the worst, as you say when it’s good is really good. A lot of staff don’t know how to pour it

Being reported that could be shortage of Guinness leading up to Christmas. I just had the 2 on my Friday lunchtime visit. One Belfast pub owner talking about charging £10 a pint. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx2v5z0wvwzo
Yer man in Bittles is a wab....his pubs shite as well

A few more bars are stocking Beamish which is great, ive been drinking more of it....and my local does this, Big Fish stout which is great

Remember Caffreys? Would love to see that on draft again

Used to love Caffreys back in the day and I agree re your man. I've moved from Hampton court to Wimbledon as trying to even stock out in different establishments

Calders was a great pint too. Sadly that’s gone too.

In situations like this, I always think if there is a shortage, threads/stories like this just exacerbate it.

Whatever you do, don’t panic. Anyway, I’m just off to the supermarket to buy up their stock.

I only drink it if I know the bar, I've seen it being poured before ordering or quite a few drinking it. Had a few rumbly ones in past and learnt my lesson

Not a big drinker myself but met up for an old mate's get together, as everyone knew where spoons was so it was convenient.
Well it was busy and mostly older people you haven't seen in a while, round of Worthington for six of us was £6:60.
We stayed all evening and had a great laugh, plenty of characters coming and going and only bought two rounds which is plenty for this amateur.
Couldn't believe £1:10 a pint and fully expect people to say it's shit beer, but for me I really enjoyed the crowd and buzz of the place - cheap and cheerful I guess.

A good pint of Guinness is a wonderful thing, but it needs to be kept and poured properly, and the glass must be spotlessly clean. So many get it wrong.
My old man worked for Guinness, he was constantly trying to train landlords how to look after it etc.

Quick true story: In the 90s I worked for Bass Brewers in Burton. We used to ask for volunteers to try new beers that were in the pipeline. Had to drink so many, at a certain pace, log how we felt during the night and the morning after too etc. When it launched, Caffreys had a reputation for being rocket fuel, but you should’ve tried some of those development-stage brews. The stuff drank well, but was an absolute killer the morning after, never known a hangover like it. It was something to do with an interaction with the nitrogen dispense IIRC.

Will try Mulligans next time I'm in town, thanks.
Although I've got to say (whilst risking the start of the old debate), that I do prefer a Dublin Guinness ;-)
