Mulligans off Deansgate takes the piss, its about 7 quid a pint in there.

Any idea what caused the recent surge in popularity with the annoying "split the g' tossers? Was only a few years ago I was being mocked for drinking Guinness, being told its like drinking a pint of gravy etc
£7.50 when I was in a week or two ago

Went in last year to try it - was very average so felt ripped off. Best one I’ve had in the last few years was in Banshee in Stockport (I only drink Guinness once every couple of months)

Thats mental. Can't believe people are willing to pay that, especially in Manchester. Was in central London the other day and even there was below 7
That's the thing with Manchester boozers nowadays, a lot of them pricey as London, and all to get "served" by the side of a cocky arsed students head while they pour you a pint of Guinness straight, complete with a nice bubbly head, I live in didsbury and there's no better feeling than paying £15 for two drinks and getting told to stop moaning by the Mrs after the bar staff have made a right fuck of pouring a Guinness because they couldn't be arsed.

The Guinness in the local wetherspoons here is absolutely amazing. We all drink it, in several pubs, and all agree it is loads better in there. And they pour it properly, with a two pour one settle method. And its cheap
Yeah wetherspoons was a bad reference thinking about it, they normally serve up a half decent pint to be fair.
I wrote that after a couple of pints....

There's a bar near my office that does a 3-part pour and charges $9/7 GBP. Nice enough place but I don't want to encourage these people.

Guinness is a strange drink, it's either very good or very bad depending where you go. The Church Bar in Alvor Portugal keeps a wonderful pint and it's only just gone up to €5

I'll raise you the black anchor in tavira, perfectly kept Guinness, poured properly by the Irish owners.
Great views of the river as you sit outside and watch the sun set between the arches. Always seems to be a guy strumming a guitar.
I would love to retire there.IMG-20240107-WA0000(1).jpg

I like guinness but the marketing guff around it winds me up. Maybe I see through it as I’ve worked in marketing for 20 years.

“Tastes better in Dublin”. No it doesn’t.

The shit about pouring it slowly is a load of old bollocks as well. Theatre to make it seem like a premium product that’s somehow more special than any other mass produced corporate beer. Total bullshit.
Not sure if wumming about the quality of the pour but it 100% tastes better in Dublin/Ireland than elsewhere, though it has improved elsewhere
It tastes better in Dublin than it does in Toronto
Though agree maybe not in Toronto apart from maybe PJs which isn't bad as well as Galway arms (and the Stout in cabbage town does a great pint of Murphys)

However if you get a nitro surger and a regular can, doesn't have to be a surger can, and pour it all in one go the quality will be close to a pint served outside of Dublin.

The only place I drink Guinness over here is the Dora Keogh on the Danforth.
Never been to the places you mention but will keep it in mind if I'm downtown.
I'll be at Murphy's law next month so will check out a pint there.

I do enjoy the plastic paddys who drink Guinness with zero idea about Guinness family members pro UK actions around the 1916 era. A fair few Hibernians won’t touch the stuff because of it.
