I see PMT has gone bump with gear4music hoovering up their stock like they did with GAK.
It's weird how guitar and music shops used to be everywhere and even the big Internet ones are failing now.I see PMT has gone bump with gear4music hoovering up their stock like they did with GAK.
Depends what level (price) you are shopping at I would suggest. Not sure I would ever buy a decent guitar over the Internet.
To be fair the standard of guitar production has vastly improved in recent years. Plenty of real world reviews on line so any duds get found out. Talking about the lower end stuff here where in the 90s cheap guitars sounded awful. A cheap squire now sounds and plays well. So many people just go for it.Not sure I would ever buy a decent guitar over the Internet.
Definitely a huge premium for brand but then if you are going to keep it and play it for years it's worth getting what you want and not the imitation.Depends what level (price) you are shopping at I would suggest.
Of course we would all like to be able to play it beforehand but sometimes needs must.
I have been pretty lucky with the Fenders that I have bought off eBay, less so with acoustics.
On a side note, I played one of the lower end Martins in a shop the other day (the ones that kind of look unvarnished). It was alright for playing chords but I didn't get along with it for anything else. It was second hand but still up at about £925 or similar.
Not a patch on my cheaper Yamaha's to my mind - paying a huge premium for the label on it................

Thoughts?
Certainly have matey - it's really really good.Have you got it yet?
It's a fake. You can always tell- the headstock isn't broken!Certainly have matey - it's really really good.
Needant(sp?) have been concerned with the authenticity of it as the seller is a real collector - top bloke and must have had about half a million quids worth of beautiful and mainly custom built guitars.
A 1950's Martin FFS!!!!!!!!
The Les Paul is easy to play and gives off a really powerful sound without compromising tone (Can't quite put my finger on it but it immediately made me sound like a familiar guitarist - TBC).
Has teased out a connection issue within my effects set up and the puppy's chewed through one of the leads but we're doing good matey................ :-)
Is that the FG 820 hanging 2nd from the left?
Sorry matey - thought I replied to you on this.Is that the FG 820 hanging 2nd from the left?
Great time to start barring like Hendrix................ ;-)My left index finger is swollen and has a cyst on the knuckle. It's getting lanced soon (not the whole finger)....i wouldn't be that bothered but it's difficult to play F chords like this. Am is a bit tricky too....even barring hurts.
Looks lovely, but so does the whole collection :)Sorry matey - thought I replied to you on this.
FG720S - can't speak highly enough of it to be honest. I absolutely love the matte(?) type finish on the neck and absolute pleasure to play............ :-)
Have you just started? You have not even begun the pain journey yet :) Blisters and blood is a good start. Build that callous up.My left index finger is swollen and has a cyst on the knuckle. Brand new will get you a decent acoustic for that budget. The Epiphone Inspired J45 is around £700 for example. After some advice on acoustics. I fancy getting one. I have about 1k - 1.5k to spend.
Would I better off getting a 2nd hand one? Or would folks recommend one if the Epiphone inspired by Gibson custom shop ones?
I don't really care about the make. I just want a decent one.
All recommendations will be greatly received.
