Can't really argue for £19m, certainly worth a punt on a player of his calibre - definitely the type of player we need in the side.

The injury has marred this transfer somewhat as this can be the type of injury that can have long-lasting effects with re-occurrence much more likely once it's happened before. From what I gather though he has had surgery for the injury (?), usually you'd just use physio to strengthen the surrounding muscles to prevent re-dislocation so there has probably been a cause for the dislocation found, damage to the ligament/bone or surgery has been done to stabilise the patellar in the hope of preventing re-occurrence, which is good, however this adds on significantly to the recovery time usually (+ months). In the short-term surgery may well cause him to be out for longer than hoped, but for long-term preservation it'll have been a good choice & hopefully he can remain free from any re-occurrences :-)

A few more signings of this quality & we'll be in business.

I'm very happy we went for him despite his injury, sure it sucks that he'll miss not only preseason but the start of the season too, but he's a phenomenal player and exactly the type of midfielder we've been desperate for.

Looks like Pep is building a frightening counter attacking side as well as a good footballing one. Gundogan plays many quick forward passes and chipped over the top passes. With Sterling, De Bruyne, Aguero and probably Sane ahead of him, our transition from defence to attack will be a sight to behold!

My issue with him is his injury record. But if Pep feels we should still get him, we shouldn't be denying him.
Dat discussion should be had. Someone should day "hey Pep, you know he is a crock right? So have your backup plan in place when ilkay, Aguero, Kompany and Silva all can't go."

Love the guy, but everything hints at him being a crock.
