From what I have seen off him in numerous videos he seems to love playing the deep and just spraying the ball around the wings near the box. I don't really see him as a attacking mid or a very effective goalscorer. I just think under Pep we might be getting rid of the concept of having a hard player as a DM however he did have Xabi and Busquets at his two clubs till now. Maybe he sees Gundogan as a similar player to Xabi Alonso. I think our mid two would probably be Fernandinho and Gundogan, whilst a bit weak defensively we would compensate with a bit of pace on the counter and a lot more possession.

We need 1 more CM after Gundogan. 2, if Fernando leaves. Pep will probably play with 2 CM's most of the time, but with Delph's and Gundogan's injury records. I think we need 5 midfielders.

I guess I have seen him some times more than you did. And he is best as an 8 - even as a more offensive 8. In the German national team I would even prefer him to Özil on the 10 as he is defensivly a lot more capable, offers a lot creativity and is a lot more dynamic than e.g. Kroos.

He should be a player Pep likes as he is one of the intelligent players. It is very rare that football players from Germany with turkish migration background have made their A-levels.

Gustavo was a squad player who'd been marginalised by Javi Martinez. I'd also disagree that he's a better player than Fernando, personally I think he got away with murder due to his team-mates and the qaulity of most opposition and it showed for Brazil and after he left Bayern (as well as every time he played for Bayern against Gundogan et al).

Guardiola also made great use of Keita at Barca who is a far inferior version of Fernando.

Then you should watch more of Keita. He is not an inferior version of Fernando. He is a cerebral footballer with a sweet left peg. He isnothing vlilr Fernando ( who I like by the way). More like a Dihno with less speed but better vision and brain.
