We cant do much until we see who will not be part of the plans. I dont see as many moving away as I would hope to. Who would take Bony off us? Who will take say Delph? Yeah we will get someone for Yaya but there are still big questions on how many players will wait around and sit in the stands and see out there contract as the clubs wont offer them what they want.

It's the price we've come to pay in the pursuit of joining the bjg boys as quick as possible, offering huge wages for average players Who'll only move down from City anyway and there's no chance those teams can offer the same wages. Then again Bony & Delph were bought last season so shouldn't really fit into that category and if they're getting wages well above their ability then it's the fault of those who sanctioned the transfer/contract

Yeah, though I think there will be takers for Bony with the new TV money kicking in. Kolarov will be the hardest to move on.

Totally agree.

Fernando may have improved, but he was starting from such a low point that it would be difficult for him to have gotten any worse.

He'll get nowhere near a Guardiola side imo, he's nowhere near the required standard technically.

I expect Fernandinho to stay, he's perfectly suited to a Pep side, mobile, quick, athletic, good technique, intelligent with the ball.

He does like to load up the squad with midfielders. He often prefers a midfielder at centre back or full back than a specialist in those positions, because midfielders are so often better on the ball. And he usually lines up with 3 centre midfielders instead of two anyway.

With Yaya going, Fernando likely to, and us already being short there, I think it's sensible to buy 3 CM this summer.

Ideally I'd like to see:

one who can play as a pivote (anchorman) and as a box to box player - Gundogan

one who can play as a box to box player and as a winger - Isco

one who could play as a pivote, box to box player, or number 10 - Kroos or Pogba.

Kroos box-to-box? He's a class footballer but Yaya would probably still run 60 yards in a lower time, towards his own goal. Don't see Pogba as a pivot player either, Dinho could play any of the 3 positions though and we already have him.

This will probably be announced by Dortmund long before City confirm it. I think once we have an agreement with them they have to announce it to the stock market.

Bild are reporting this could be announced today.

Anyone on here backed this up?
BVB will announce they've agreed to sell him. Wouldn't surprise me if we don't start announcing transfer signings until new kit is launched.

Hope it ends up better than that

When I say box to box I mean playing as a number 8. Exactly like he did for Madrid at the Etihad.

He's not very quick or great defensively, but neither was Xavi or Frank Lampard and they didn't do too badly in that position.

If you're good enough on the ball you can make up for a lack of athleticism. Unfortunately the reverse very often isn't true. Ask Josy Altidore or Ishmail Miller ;-)

Pogba is much better as a number 8, that would be his first choice position without question. But if we had injuries he'd be capable of playing as a pivote, like he did for France a couple of months back.

Dinho can play in all of those positions, I want to keep him and think he'll be an important player next year. But as good as he is, he's not capable of playing all 3 positions as the same time, so it's probably best we bring in some more players to help him out! :-)
