I often do. Think he is grossly overrated. But it's an argument no one agrees with.

One of my favourite players to watch over the last 5 years.
Mine too. Pleasing to the eye. But over the last 2-4 year, no player has been more overrated by the fans, media and other footballers alike. He is constantly on the short list for Ballon Dor, yet everyone else on the list dwarfs him statistically. But somehow he often gets to be the exception.

Anyway, I'll leave this argument alone, coz I have had it enough times that it has gotten boring.

At Barca Pep would regularly play Iniesta on the wing with Abidal as his fullback. I don't see why Laporte or Clichy could not play full back with Silva at left wing or Stones or Sagna at RB and Silva on the RW. My opinion is that Silva will play in the midfield 3 and on the wing and KDB will play on the wing, and as #10 and maybe even as a striker (very similar to what we have seen with Muller). These are really talented players and their skill sets are versatile. While positional discipline is key to his philosophy Pep is going to use that versatility and plan each game specifically if his history is any indication.

I think the make up of the midfield is going to be really interesting. Specifically, who else is going to play the pivote if Gundogan is first choice there? Can Nasri play that role? I think having at least 2 players in that role is a necessity.

Also will Nasri and Fernandinho get many games as a #8 or will we see Thiago or Pogba and the promotion of both Garcias from the academy. I expect Yaya and Fernando will not be around but there are a lot of things that will be fun to see play out.

It will be very interesting indeed to see what happens. Pep plays with a lot of different formations so you cannot say he'll plays this or that. I think Gundoguan will the be first name on the sheet if healthy. He will bring a lot of more possession to our midfield. If Pep decides to keep Yaya I think he may use him sparing like he did with Xabi Alonzo. If he feels he needs more defensively he'll probably swap and put Fernandinho like he did when he played Vidal.

The Silva debate is an interesting one. While Pep was at Barca from what I saw he was playing a 4-3-3 with Ineista, Xavi and Busquetes. When you look at it on paper you think that those three are great in possession, but not good at defending. But they did work hard and press when they didn't have the ball, something that Pep will demand unlike Pellegrini. Also under Pellegrini Silva would have a lot of freedom and would be on the opposite side of the pitch a lot. Under Pep that won't happen. Pep's all about positioning and Silva won't be allowed to roam. I think Silva and Nasri would swap in the Ineista role. That's something Thiago did similarly as well. Clichy could still have a place at left back and may be asked to have more of a defending role rather than bomb forward.
