Ilkay Gundogan to join Manchester City in £21million move after agreeing four-year deal to become Pep Guardiola's first signing

Manchester City are set to confirm that Ilkay Gundogan has become their first signing under new manager Pep Guardiola after the Germany midfielder tied up a £21million move from Borussia Dortmund.

Gundogan is currently out of action following surgery for a dislocated kneecap that will rule him out of Euro 2016 and the start of next season, but that has not deterred Guardiola from going ahead with the deal.

City are expected to announce the signing on Thursday after concluding a four-year deal with the player on Wednesday night.

No they are not the same type of player at all. And even if they were, it would be silly to not sign one if you have the other. Put both in a Midfield, and it will be practically impossible to dominate that team. Barcelona will have a hard time dominating a Pogba, Gundogan, Fernandihno midfield.
The Diawara kid we've been linked to is the next type of MF to buy in addition to IG not Pogba. He's more of the defensive type who also can spray passes to the advanced positions. A MF of IG Dinho and Diawara fits the PL and actually keeps a MF shape vs MF of IG,Pogba,Dinho who could possibly find themselves too advanced in the final 3rd we get caught on a counter.
