Haaland the great

There was a compilation 1on FB this morning of his goals where he's "bullied" the defenders, it's extraordinary how when marked by 2 or even 3 defenders he doesn't stop and come back as almost all attackers would, but just continues by either bulldozing them out of the way or he just rides the challenges and gets his shot o1ff. I can't remember offhand any striker who could do that.
Cyrille Regis.( RIP)
WBA late 70s. One particular match at Maine Road will live long in the memory, a 3-1 defeat Regis scored a typical goal.....all power pace and explosive finishing.

Already on his way to the best ever seen in the prem but alas will never get the plaudits he deserves because he plays for us Look how Jack is now lauded because he ISNT playing for us

Jack Grealish never got lauded because his performances never merited it, a contrast to KDB who was lauded by many as the best midfielder to play in the league. Haaland after three seasons (and finishing last season behind Isak in the goalscoring charts) is being debated already as the greatest Prem striker of all time. Nonsense to suggest he won’t get the credit as he is already receiving the credit.

Bit harsh on Jack there. I'm sure he didn't sign for City wanting to play out wide on his weaker left foot. He had freedom at Villa and was chief playmaker.

Blues always wanted Jack to hit the byeline and cross it. Not easy to do when you are predominantly right footed.and when the manager instructed you to attack, draw defenders to you and then lay it inside..... If you don't do what Pep says ,you don't play.

By way of example if we'd asked David Silva to play wide right for us every game, his career veith us would have been totally different. Couldn't use his right foot at all,yet Jack because of his transfer fee had all the pressure on him to play like a winger.

Jack like Silva and Nasri was brilliant at never giving the ball away . Think he did as much as he possibly could....in the circumstances.

His lack of confidence in taking a shot was definitely a weakness though.
Regis was a great player and very under-rated.
I actually think I've confused the Maine Rd match, in which he did score
With the " goal of the season " he scored against Norwich I think
Funny how the mind plays tricks on you.

Defenders bouncing off him like Skittles...this was the goal I thought he'd scored at Maine Rd but I'd got confused ; )

I suppose Drogba of Chelsea would enter the room when comparing powerful no.9 s down the years.?

Big Bob Latchford at Everton and Swansea, that crazy season when he hit 30 odd goals late 70s....not on Haaland level for consistent goal scoring tho.

ITV's desperate Ciy hating jokes Splatterface & Dixon had Carthorse out on his own as "the most complete centre forward around" last night.....

He probably is. Not sure who is comparable with him currently. Haaland levels definitely exceeds Kane in some elements, such as his strength, speed, positional awareness in the box, ability on the counter. but Kane is a great footballer, tremendous passer of a ball and outstanding when dropping into the ten role. It’s not massively controversial to be honest.

I could list a 100+ past and current centre forwards who I'd pick ahead of Carthorse, but not one in front of Erling.

Yes me too but how I understood your message it was the current most ‘complete’ striker, not historically, and not a comment who is the best either.

It’s all subjective of course what defines ‘complete’ I would argue Ibramovich is more of a complete footballer than say Brazilian Ronaldo based on technique, touch etc but I would want the latter upfront for me everyday day of the week and would rate him the much better striker.

Whenever there is a discussion about city players the definitions change to minimise their achievements. Now being “complete” as a striker is creating chances/assists for others, an area Erl is less good at. For me strikers should be judged, and always have been, on doing the most difficult thing which is putting the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis. Big erl is the very best at that
