Hamsik or Gourcuff??

Neither as I've actually watched them both play a lot, not just on highlight shows or Football Manager.

They are both overrated players in my opinion, purely because they don't play in England. Whether either of them will be able to handle the English game, I'm unsure about.

Gourcoff is another Ireland, who is fantastic one minute and diabolical the next, Ancelotti didn't play him because his head wasn't right and he was inconsistent (and injured a lot). He did very well in Ligue 1, but to be fair, this is the same league that Djibril Cisse used to be the leading goalscorer. He looked MILES out of his depth when he played against Chelsea last season and they spanked them 4-0. He and Obertan (now of United fame) were the two big players there, and look how he turned out.

Hamsik has question marks over his strength and his reliance on time on the ball. There's been a few times where I've watched him and was thinking "just release the damn ball quicker". Don't get me wrong, he's a good player and if I was forced to, I'd probably choose him over Gourcoff, but he is still behind players like Milner for me, or even Modric. He won't fit in England, he'll be the next Veron.

I'd actually rather have Hamsik than Kaka in some ways never mind Gourcuff. I think both would need time to adjust to the Prem but Hamsik is less well known, younger and would be cheaper. Yet he has the potential to be a real danger in the Prem. I fear that if Kaka came the weight of expectation would be so high he would be slated everywhere (including on here) if he didn't hit the ground running in his first season. I don't rate Gourcuff that highly so he's not even in my thoughts. Rather have Hamsik or Milner than Gourcuff.

Subject says it all really, who would you prefer?
There both similar players and have been linked with both. I still think Ireland should stay but wouldnt mind seeing one of these come in. Personally i would like to see Gourcuff in, from what i have seen off him he looks like a top quality player, but then again i havent seen much of Hamsik so i cant really compare.

Hamsik:
2004 Slovan Bratislava 6 (1)
2004–2007 Brescia 65 (10)
2007– Napoli 106 (30)

Gourcuff:
2003–2006 Rennes 66 (6)
2006–2009 Milan 36 (1)
2008–2009 → Bordeaux (loan) 37 (12)
2009– Bordeaux 27 (6)

either but think we will get neither (not being in CL)

None of them. I'd have milner or ozil anyday. Italian league midfielders struggle to get to grips with getting closed down quickly in the prem and gourcuff is a space cadet.

Gourcuf seems more of a CM, whereas Hamsik seems more of an AM, so I think Gourcuf would suit are system (either 4-3-3 or 4-4-2) better, as well as probobly suiting the prem better, plus he has more experience than Hamsik.

So on that Id say if I had to choose I'd pick Gourcuff, but I still need to see more of Hamsik TBH.

Gourcoff plays just behind the strikers for France and Bordeaux
