Hansen, Lawrensen and Shearer bring shame on the BBC

Hansen's on about a mill a year at the BBC. He's been there about 20 years. He's been pretty crap throughout that time.

The Producers obviously rate him and his "expertise". So I very much doubt this will go any further.

MOTD really does need a good fucking shake-up, it's being presented by footballing dinosaurs. But until the ratings fall they'll believe all is still well with their "flagship" football programme. Deluded.

I don't really care what the pundits say about Mario - we love him, he has contributed to us winning the league and he's a strong character so imagine he doesn't care either.

However I can't stand listening to Lawrensen - he is so bitter and negative. About everyone! He has stupid, petty digs at anyone he can. He just reminds me of a very sad, grumpy unpleasant person.

He clearly has his own issues going on - no one can dislike so many people without disliking himself. Something seriously wrong with that guy and it is an absolute disgrace that he is a commentator on BBC1. He brings no analytical opinion, no facts, not even theatrical discourse. Worst commentator bar none.

The following was in a recent issue of MCIVTA. I found that I agreed with a lot of the opinion, so I thought that I would share it on here:-

I have complained to the BBC in the strongest terms possible about their poor, biased, nasty punditry and, I am sad to say, commentary of the England v Italy match last Sunday.

The punditry of Alan Hansen and Alan Shearer and the commentary of Guy Mowbray and Mark Lawrenson was disgraceful and their victimisation of Mario Balotelli was appalling. It was nothing short of a character assassination. In a school this would be classed as bullying and victimisation.

If you saw it or heard it, then I urge you to complain too:

Complaints can be made at:

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/complain-online/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/complain-online/</a>

I refer to Hansen referring to Mario Balotelli as “stupid Mario” and his untrue comment saying that he had won nothing, to which his fellow pundit, Lee Dixon, much to his credit said “The Championship”.

Hansen opined that City only won the Premier League because Balotelli got banned after being sent off at Arsenal. Again, not true. The facts say otherwise. Mario Balotelli provided the pass for the winning goal that sealed Manchester City’s Premier League Title on 13th may 2012. A Championship to which Balotelli contributed 13 League goals, as well as assists.

Hansen and Shearer focused on Balotelii’s negative points, ignoring the good, yet they made no references to Wayne Rooney’s many indiscretions.

It was not lost on the main presenter Gary Lineker who referred to “juvenile back references”, before adding “so leave it out, yeah”.

I did some further research into Balotelli.

Whilst Mario Balotelli is a young man with a colourful character and maybe needs to mature somewhat, he is very popular with his team mate and fans (not just of his own club), as well as a very successful career on the pitch. I would also refer you to Mario Balotelli’s record of success. A Champions League medal, 3 Italian Seria A (Scudetti) medals, 1 Premier league medal, 1 Italian Cup medal, 1 UEFA Supercup medal, 1 FA Cup medal (all before the age of 22). Hardly the record of a “stupid” person, and certainly the record of someone who deserves more respect than he gets from the BBC.

I also refer to Mark Lawrenson’s peevish joining in with the character assassination of Balotelli:

Guy Mowbray said “Mario is having a moan” (whilst ignoring all Rooney’s “moans”), and Lawrenson replied by saying of Balotelli “if his brains were petrol he wouldn’t get out of the garage”. This all went beyond the reasonable bounds of comment and was very demeaning. It is not acceptable. It is a very sad day when the BBC has come to this.

This is not the first time that Hansen and Lawrenson in particular have stuck the boot into Balotelli. They were doing it all last season. They were very negative about City too.

I ask the question: would Hansen, Lawrenson, Shearer or Mowbray be so personal about an English player, or perhaps more pertinently, about a white player?

Do the BBC want to lose more viewers or are they going to do something about it? At very least the positions of Hansen, Shearer, Lawrenson in particular should be reviewed. Firm action must be taken so that there is no repeat of this and that the BBC returns to the highest standards and integrity.

I thought it was Shearer who said he hadnt won owt...

Controversy is the new "standard", opinionated commentary the new "norm". Complaints, far from highlighting problems are a sign of the "buzz" and viewer "engagement".

Perversely, the more complaints they get the happier they are, clearly they are making waves, the cutting edge, pushing the envelope, out there, ruffling feathers, saying the things that need to be said....waffle, dither and fudge.

This is the new broadcasting mantra and sadly it's not going to change.

It's funny really because it wasn't long ago these 3 were up Mario's arse saying how well he did against QPR and how much he changed the game and how much credit he deserves!

It's not that they are awful, awful, terribly shit pundits but because they are hypocritical idiots!

One week they will slate Mario then the following week or 2 will praise his ability and Shearer will make a shit comment like "he's taken some stick over the past few years...." Yeah from you, you stupid geordie ****!!

BBC probably know how fuckin stupid these 3 are and that's most likely why they're still there because people tune in to MoTD to see what brainless comments they will come out with next!

Complaining to the BBC about how shit their employees are is like complaining at the sky when the weather is shit!!

I commend the idea, folks, but e-mailing these no marks will do nought, cos it's all hidden and they can act like it's not there. What we need to do is get it in to a more public domain, like a newspaper.

Those cnuts all read those and once the BBC sees their know-all pundits with a hundred medals between them getting dissected in the nationals, they will kow tow.

We just need a journo to take up the cause...

They are all pub bores. Sat slumped in their chairs, fat and dull, boring everyone stupid with their "knowledge" and of "how it used to be".

I can go in most local pubs on a Saturday night and be much more boring than them...

Edited for accuracy.

Personally i enjoy seeing Lawrenson squirming in his seat, he is just making a complete tit out of himself. He knows deep down Mario and other heroes of ours have well and truly pissed all over his chips. Will the BBC see end to his drivel? Probably not, so lets make him squirm even more next season

Would still love to slap him

I've followed the link and filled in the complaint form. Mario has his faults, but this was an attack on him as a person, and not as a footballer. Leave Mario alone, and lets get rid of these has-been's on the telly who think they know what they are talking about.
Eveyone should complain, it will only take you 5 mins

Last night was a studio triumph - another game - another meaningless borefest of cliched sneering - another bloated payday at the licence payer's expense. Not a single scrap of insight, intelligence or integrity between them.
