Hard To Be Here

Absolutely spot on mate, I feel so down and disappointed after a defeat, but to call the players/ management is so futile after elevating us to the heights we’ve experienced over the last years, keep the faith.
Remember when we got walloped by Leicester 5-2 we were terrible, we all know how the season ended, we picked up the League title. The moral of the story is it's a long old season and only one game.

It’s just an anonymous forum where the only thing we all have in common is City.

Everyone has different expectations and feelings about the club though, not everyone will agree on why we lose, who should play or who we should sign. But none of that is worth getting upset about, unless it becomes personal.

I can read different opinions without getting worked up. What I come here for is almost always to vent my anger and frustration when we lose, mostly because my wife has zero interest or even knowledge of football, plus it’s not fair if I took it out on her.

I come here looking for at least some fellow blues to agree that we’ve let ourselves get worse mostly because of poor and unambitious transfers and a reluctance to go toe to toe in the transfer market with the red cartel, Madrid and Chelsea, despite the club’s income being higher than most of them.

I also don’t like how as a club we seem to be a soft touch, too sentimental with some once great but now average players, and just taking all the shit the cunts in the media throw slanderously about. All of that adds up to us falling from being seen as unbeatable to becoming a bit of a soft touch. I need somewhere to vent that feeling, here is about the only place.

Finally, I don’t see anything wrong with being entitled. It’s called having standards that we want to maintain and not having any desire to see the shit football we watched in the 90s. It’s like in life, once you stay in 5 star hotels why the fuck would you go to a Premier Inn? City were the very best, it’s fucking shit seeing us last season, two cup final defeats in a row to crap sides and now losing to fucking spursy again. Even worse now Liverpool gazzumped us for Wirtz and our only ever £100m player is on loan at bloody Everton, not to mention we still have no RB and only one reliable goalscorer and Rico Lewis still getting games.

It is one of the paradox's of life, like even when I was a student, I disliked students. It is the same with football fans. Even though I am one I still think they are all knobheads. Dippers endlessly whinging about Hillsborough but never mentioning Heysel or 'coach welcomes'. Rags and the other cartels banging on about FFP and still talking about the glory day when there was no FFP. Even we ignore the human rights record of our owners. So give your opinion but realise you are in an asylum

Moaning is good and rants are even better it's when you overstep the mark that is wrong
Calling out players and the manager over a bad result is part of the make-up of a fans, i even think players and managers understand it and learn to deal with it and see it as part of the game

But the one thing that still gets me after all these years is the pain and the feeling down after losing a game
its how you have to learn to take defeat gracefully and just brush it off and move on to the next game without a moan or rant, but it's always somebody else's fault and you want to pin the blame on somebody for having a shit game

Football is emotive, and different people express it in different ways. I suspect the vast majority of posters on this forum moaning about other posters moaning about certain players are doing so to unburden themselves of their own frustrations. Which I find I am deeply uncomfortable with (and so should they be).

Peace out. BBS
I can’t stand the negativity towards some of our players on here some of the time, and often it’s the same posters posting the same negative shite about a particular player they don’t like

Perfect example is posters saying something factually incorrect, such as we will never win anything with Rico as a squad player

Complete bollocks & proven to be factually incorrect, yet still spouted by some

I’ll happily challenge anyone with stuff like this & I can tell you now mate, the only frustration from me is that it’s gaslighting

I think I should also mention how ironic your post is ;)

I completely agree with Pearce out tho :)

If you don't like players being castigated I strongly suggest you stay in off-topic section.... oh, and don't go to the pub, the game, or family do's
There's just some things in the unwritten fan's charter that will never change, and slagging off the manager and players is one of them.

We are allowed to criticise when it is evidently deserved.

The problem is too many on here think that once a player wears the shirt they should be heralded as the greatest ever when the evidence suggests otherwise. It’s quite obvious mediocrity in terms of player quality now underlines this squad.

You're so right we're all spoilt, Johnny Come Lately, entitled tw#ts. The business model was clear, get great, then go shit quickly as possible.
Been a fiasco in planning and forward contingency thinking, no matter how merrily you paint it.

I don't think any club has managed to continually replace great players with other great players. As of today it's the weakest squad since before our first FA Cup under these owners imho. Some may become great. Very difficult to know if we are in a bedding in period or too many players are simply not at the highest level.

As a regular contributor to the forum, and a fan since 1968, I am looking at the forum tonight, and for large parts of last season, wondering how I can avoid becoming so utterly irritated by mindless comments. Apparently Rico is the least athletic player in the entire league, Cherki will have the flair taken from him, and Pep will ruin Omar Marmoush, just as three examples. Every single one of us feels a defeat, but does it really need to come with comments so devoid of sense or sporting insight because we didn't take away the points and have lost our heads?
I think the hardest thing to swallow is that we played very attractive football last week with a substantial outcome and then produced a performance that bore no comparison with the Wolves game. You'd expect some measure of 'carry-over' but there wasn't a single feature that could be admired. Complete serving of creamy Lancashire cheese followed by South Downs chalk!

When football was a working class game, where you could walk up to the Kippax and get in for loose change, it was an outlet for the frustrations of every day life. F and Jeff, crowd-float up and down the Kippax, proper verbals with the away lot, a bit of gratuitous violence, get clipped round the head by a copper. Stewards didn't swarm over you, CCTV didn't monitor your every move, it was rougher, tougher and you felt part of putting a collective 2 fingers up at the rest of society. Away games were weekend adventures, hitch hiking round the country, jibbing trains, jumping turnstiles and wearing the pin as a badge of honour. Every moan, groan and frustration was left at the stadium, then on the bus for a few sherberts, chippy and home. Maybe read the Pink.

The gentrification of our game has put us where we are now. Middle class, cash on hip day trippers have replaced the working class. Frustrations aren't left at the ground, you show any kind of emotion you're glared at, told to sit down or reported to a steward. A steward who will then closely monitor the "situation" whilst his mates scour CCTV looking for an excuse to mark your card. Block, row and seat number duly noted and bookmarked for observation or maybe a knock on the door from GMP at teatime.

So, whilst our collective venting was sated at the stadium, the only place to do it nowadays is on forums such as this.

Such is modern day football supporting life. Give me the Kippax days all day fucking long.

I went down to Manchester yesterday with my son and we had a great weekend at the football. Okay we lost disappointing, but that was never why I started going to football, going to the game out Saturday night , Sunday breakfast in Manchester, discussing how we are a work in progress there will be a few ups and downs until we settle, probably November ish.How we got the spurs and Brentford performance out in just the one game.
Got back looked at a few threads and questioned why some watch City they seem to get very little from it, me can’t wait for out next football weekend away. My son feels the same.

You do know it’s perfectly possible to love City, love football and look forward to the match each week, and yet still be irritated (on a sliding scale) if we lose or play badly, or, in the case of yesterday, do both?

Yes but again that’s not what I’m talking about, we can all be irritated by a bad game, it’s those that seem to constantly look for reasons to slag off everything about City , the board, the manager the new players , the system, the transfers, he’ll play the old players, his favourites, then he doesn’t ,the new players aren’t good enough, we need more new players. It’s one defeat early into a new team after 2 games and 1 pre season game with a young team. Like I said they seem to get no joy from City have no perspective, no patience. If that’s what they want to do good for them no problem, just saying not how I view or want to view going to watch City.
