The New Breed of Manchester City fans will never understand ? How could they, when most of them are based all over the world and watched the AGUERO goal and wanted a bit of that

Last season and the start of this have been a very hard watch in the majority of games I must add not all. I watched City play Southampton from 1978 on you tube. City fielded the likes of Watson, Owen, Barnes, Hartford, Kidd and Mick Channon. The standard of football compared to what we watch now was fucking awful. So I know what I'd rather watch

think some of it is media just when did we start talking about being champions 5/6 games into season. programe after programe i cant see X losing a game this season it's all over, it used to 10 games see where teams are then march the push is on. i get ssn want title race but its laughable

Modern city fans all over the world see a headline and click ? How Many Fans really understand that Manchester City plays in 4 competitions ? I bet most of them see Manchester City vs Joe Bloggs and think it's a Premier League game

You could say that it took until the filthy oil money came in to recover from that shitshow. Mal was a great coach under Joe, but a fucking terrible manager. Booky had a fantastic team, who finished one pt behind the Liverpool juggernaut of the late seventies. And that was in a season when we were without one of the best players in the country for most of the season (the King). A minor tweak or two, and there was a league title in that team. But Allison ripped it apart. I have to be honest, I've never forgiven him for it.

I'd say that he's one of the most negative posters on here. So if you're in any way positive, even about next door's rhododendrons, you will indeed be a disappointment to him. But I wouldn't let it worry you!

She didn’t fluke anything, she fought her way through qualifying and beat everyone they put in front of her in the main draw without dropping a set. As an 18 yr old. Absolutely amazing achievement

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with her behaviour but, that said, one of the dozen or so coaches she’s worked her way through since then might disagree with me !!

I was also there but obviously I didn't remember how poor our football was, mind you the general standard wasn't great looking back at old games, which I do a lot., so if you think I'm some younger City fan you are mistaken I had a season ticket with my dad in the North Stand from 76 and from 73 in the Main Stand.

A while back I stumbled across the 1974 FA Cup final, the full game, and decided to watch it to see how the football looked over the course of a game. It also meant I wasn’t watching the game through blue tinted spectacles, as I love watching City clips from back then.

The standard was less than league 2 today in terms of technical ability. I accept it’s one game, and it doesn’t mean games weren’t exiting back then, but in terms of technical standards, close control, fitness levels, and of course the pitches there is a world of difference between now and then, and if people are struggling with our current style of football, fuck knows what they’d be like if it regressed to 1970s standards.

I remember Joe Mercer being scathing about Wembley, calling it a cow field or something. Proper passing was so difficult. Young supporters today probably think that we always played on manicured lawns. As you say, the game has improved technically as the pitches have improved.

I idolised them players back then but like you say there is no comparison with the team of today and the teams of the last 15 years or so

Spot on, I'm 64 65 in a few months and was on the way to Belle Vue bowling on the bus reading the MEN(?), I had a tear in my eye when I found out about Barnes & Owen being sold against their wishes. I have a lousy memory but that has been seared into my mind ever since.

No social media, internet or mobile phones in those days of course, although explaining that to anyone under about 40 just gets you blank looks today.

Really? I did. "Glory" was walloping the rags, beating Liverpool or the top dogs of the day (only to lose to the bottom of the league Club the following week!), a decent run in any of the Cup competitions, seeing a City goal as a goal-of-the-month contender, or generally just upsetting the odds and/or the establishment in our performance or result. In perspective, that was our definition of "glory" back then and I never turned-up without the hope of achieving it.
