Hard To Be Here

As a regular contributor to the forum, and a fan since 1968, I am looking at the forum tonight, and for large parts of last season, wondering how I can avoid becoming so utterly irritated by mindless comments. Apparently Rico is the least athletic player in the entire league, Cherki will have the flair taken from him, and Pep will ruin Omar Marmoush, just as three examples. Every single one of us feels a defeat, but does it really need to come with comments so devoid of sense or sporting insight because we didn't take away the points and have lost our heads?
You might want to actually engage in conversation with those whose views oppose your own.

It strikes me that you're 100% for City no matter what - as am I - but your loyalty to City seems to rule out any objective criticism of our players - I'm more than open to such and have criticized numerous in our squad - I think most often correctly - but sometimes I make huge errors in assessment of player potential (no one is perfect and when wrong I'll admit so).

We're not a perfect side. Our players are not uniformly best in the world. And we'd be better if our less able players were replaced by better counterparts.

Argue your points in favor of our current squad, subject to criticism. It's a give and take.

If you don't want to view any criticism whatsoever of any City player, then perhaps this forum isn't for you.

I'm very happy to engage and do so.
I just like balance - talk about what players can do AND what they can't. Talk about what they did well, and what they didn't. Talk about what they bring, and what they don't .

You will find several posts of mine accepting that we delayed too long in refreshing the squad. It was compounded by a succession of injuries and illness and a natural drop after the four-peat from several players. That is 100% support and 100% reality. We know we are not as good as we were. We are, however, on a journey to improve, and that excites me. There are some here, and we can all name them, who are relentlessly negative, picking holes in scapegoated players and failing to acknowledge positive contributions. I grant you that is not for me.

I've been labeled as one such negative poster numerous times - whatever.

But for sure - the majority of Bluemoon are 100% in support of our players (as am I) - giving latitude for poor performances because of numerous factors - personal/emotional/life issues, adapting to a new league, and so on.

If some random person posts an idiotic comment - just pass him by. No need to respond.

If a frequent poster, posts something you disagree with - debate him or her. At worst you'll disagree - but often you'll see why your counterpart thinks the way that they do.

It's a give-and-take - for sure - and it's not for everyone.

For me, I very much hope that you'll continue to engage, as I value all insights - your posts may very well change my mind, as I hope that mine might well change yours.

Just not on here then...

Indeed. As someone said before about Savinho - he doesn't work hard enough. I accept that he sometimes does not work hard enough to retrieve the ball once lost. I also speak of his potential, his pace, his first touch and his ability to play right or left. Given the success we have had, it isn't possible to accept the criticism that comes from some quarters. There are no poor players in our team - there are just different strengths and some areas for development.

Cheers.

As for work rate... I don't agree with this criticism at all. Savinho for me - works his ass off every game he plays.

IMO, the trouble with Savinho is that:
1) If he beats his man and is in position to deliver a telling cross or shot on goal - he too-often fails to do so;
2) When one-on-one with a defender - he does not beat his defender one-on-one often enough.

I've no problem whatsoever with his work rate and contribution on defense.

That was a problem for all our wingers, especially last season. Our more pedestrian attack meant that they were doubled up on and Haaland was surrounded. Any winger facing that is going to struggle.
I don't think there is an issue with Savinho's work-rate other than when the ball is turned over. He can sometimes fail to track back, but he is 21 and no player is complete at that age.

I'm guessing there's quite a few who were on the pre match thread, that will be disappointed this evening. There's some who were on there this afternoon, who I'm sceptical as to whether they're actually Citeh fans. Can't definitively prove it, unfortunately.

I am glad people are enjoying moaning about people not moaning.

Made up for them.

I barely bother with the pre-match or post-match threads anymore, and I never go near the matchday thread. Too many numpties entirely I'm afraid.

If it's hard to be 'here' just think how those poor bastards over in Trafford feel! Twenty titles is it, God kows how many FA cups, two(?) Euro Cups, and basically fuck all for over ten years. No wonder the young kids are looking elsewhere. We lose a game and the sky's falling in! If we lose a game go and watch some videos of early 60's performances.
