Hard To Be Here

Define courage?

Is it that we’re English football fans that crave blood and thunder tactics when we’re not winning, but will accept the tika taka when it does?

Seems to be that when the chips are down, fans want players smashing into tackles and running faster than chatting with each other and working out why the tactics aren’t working.

Gundogan is a prime example. When we lose, he needed to care more and smash into tackles, whereas that’s never his game and he was always going to affect games with his brain and movement.

Courage isn't just about lunging into tackles or running around for the sake of it. Real courage is making yourself available, showing for the ball, taking players on and having that urgency to try and win the game. Firing shots from the edge of the box, driving into the danger zones. It's not leaving someone like Doku 3 on 1 against defenders at the Bernabeu, or endlessly passing sideways for the sake of it. It's taking chances and being aggressive with and without the ball. Our play is far too soft, slow and predictable.

Courage is taking the game by the throat and actually trying to change the outcome. We wasted a good 65-70 minutes tonight by not playing this way.

I agree. I've had a suspicion for some time that what purports to be "controlling the game" or "game management" or "recycling the ball" is actually passing the responsibility onto others.

This is particularly the case when a centtal defender passes it to a midfield player and he fires it straight back to where it came from. The central defender is increasingly being relied on to be the team's playmaker. To some extent, John Stones was equal to the task but none of the current incumbents is, and it isn't fair to expect them to be.

I was discussing this with my son and thinking back to when City had David Silva and Madrid had Modric. Where are those intelligent players now ?

Not sure why its hard to be here when the team make fuck ups and are rightly criticised.

Some fans dining off the we've won stuff so you ain't allowed to complain bollocks, I have been complaining about city sides and perfomances for 40 years, a few trophies and record breaking seasons of pure joy will not deny me my fundemental right as a legacy bert to call a performance shit or a manager or player a daft twat from time to time.

*yesterdays perfromance wasn't shit btw, just lacklustre in attack

If you cannot take negativity then you chose the wrong fanbase, most misserable jolly cunts in football we are

I agree with most of your points & having watched the blues for over 50 years I could never be classed as a Happy Clapper but some of the crap being posted on Bluemoon over the last few hours is just mental, I presume / hope some is being posted by sad Cretins who are not really City fans?

I really dont care about winning or losing, its the manner in which we lose now, I have seen some players over the years who would struggle to get in a Sunday league team, I have watched us get beat by stockport county at home, followed the blues home and away for many years, some great away days in the 2nd division, but this football we play now is boring and predictable, and the atmosphere at home games is shite, to many tourists and happy clappers, sitting around just filming the whole game, and when the hotel opens it will only get worse, that hotel isn't being built for the loyal fans, its being but to accommodate the tourists, who will spend a load of money in the club shop, do the stadium tour etc, the club is slowly but surely killing of the real fans

Mix of both new fans who expect too much, and old fan with some of the old fans probably being sardonic, and then the natural mard arses. Add to that non fans lurking.

I do think for some and it is a minority a thread like this encourages them to post more outragously than usual just because they feed off it.

Players like them are few and far between

Becoming a little disillusioned with this place again. The lack of patience and the level of anger that comes whenever we don't win a game these days is very disheartening. I don't recognise our fanbase much these days.
Not read anything after your post, though I’d be shocked if you didn’t take any flak. You are bang on though. Full of wet lettuces, people who think they know what they’re talking about but, instead, will go back to their mundane jobs tomorrow instead of being highly paid football managers. Twats, basically.
