Diplomatic immunity from prosecution should have its limits. Stealing some hairspray from Poundland, yeah fine, diplomatic immunity. Killing someone, no sorry, you’ve killed someone, a young man with his life ahead of him, ruined a family’s lives... face the consequences! The annoying thing in this case is none of the Sacoolas family had any diplomatic immunity from prosecution.
The Police, after they had interviewed Anne Sacoolas at her home the day after the collision, applied for an immunity waver, which was denied by the Home Office.
Internal memos from the Home Office confirm she didn't have diplomatic immunity, but as the Police were told she did at the time, she was released so she went home on a flight from an American airbase in the UK as soon as it could be arranged.
At the end of the day, a 19 year old lad has been killed by someone driving on the wrong side of the road, which would carry a charge of Dangerous Driving and a potential prison sentence if you or I did it. I don't see why she shouldn't face justice like anyone else that has killed someone due to a brainfart of epic proportions.

But as it turns out she didn’t even have that. She must face the consequences!
Why is stealing hairspray from Poundland "fine"?Diplomatic immunity from prosecution should have its limits. Stealing some hairspray from Poundland, yeah fine, diplomatic immunity. Clearly we should not extradite anyone to the US unless Sacoolas comes back the other way. I would rip the treaty up personally. The US should reap what it sows.USA and UK agree changes to diplomatic immunity grey areas don't know if it will affect this case though.
