Harry Kane

Yes its a negotiation ploy by Spurs re the 160m price. that is not a made up amount, Sun were asked to put that amount into the article.

Spurs will hope we meet them close this amount.

One thing is clear, 100m will not be enough here from Txiki.
Well I have confidence we will drop out if it gets ridiculous. we have that form and Levy will hopefully know it.

Our bargaining chips are quite strong. I cant see it being £160m

I thought it was more along the lines of logic. £160m on a 28yr old is extreme. I am not saying I dont want him to come but it's clearly the poorer deal when compared with £160m for a 20yr old . But our club know what they're doing so I am fully behind it.

If its true (£160m/£500k pw)

How can you spend £160m on a player that doesn’t want to come? I’m pretty sure the club would have evaluated which is the better deal, but if Haaland isn’t 100% commited, that’s a big put off.

One of our most reliable journos is also working at The Sun. There are reliable journos at every paper, even if there are 90% of rubbish ones.

100 million above our record signing, quite a hike that.

If he managed 160 games for us, a cool million a game , plus the 400 grand a week your reliable journalist is quoting.

That journo is reliable? Sam Lee has backed up the story? People here want to argue on anything, I'm only suggesting to verify for yourself first. One source checks out, the other doesn't.
"that journo is reliable" you pulled that out of your arse mate... it's a fucking showbiz journo. she makes stuff up for clicks like any other journo. you just decided she's reliable because you want the story to be true

"Sam lee has backed up the story" - no, he said he has no idea if it's true or not, but that there's some merit to it - and that doesn't mean a price has been agreed, or that levy has done a "u-turn", and far more reliable journalists on the spurs side have denied it.

it's cognitive dissonance. you ignore all the things that don't jive with your preconceived beliefs, and cling on to those who don't. you say "oh it's talksport, clearly unreliable" but cling on to the words of the sun.. it's ridiculous

Fair enough, fair enough. I'm not clinging on to every word of The Sun, fwiw. I believe the numbers are fabricated and we've yet to reach an agreement on that. I don't believe it'll be £160m, but I do believe a deal will happen.

I think the main issue that people have with Kane and the fee is that a) if Kane's ankles crumble (no genuine evidence of that happening), or he becomes the next Bony (chance of that being negligible), fans of other clubs will take the piss and rejoice, and b) if we do break the bank, both fans of other clubs and a plethora of journalists and media platforms will sneer and say nasty things about our fans, club a owner.

I honestly think it is the fear/shame (add a range of other negative emotions of your choice here) of what others will think if Kane, for whatever reason, flops. I also think a section of our fanbase care or fret more about the external prospective perception of our club than the joy and success a prospective top level player could bring us.

When did we become so thin skinned? In short, I'd rather be positive about the possibility of future success, rather than fearful of possible failure.

I don’t think any of those things. I just think we could do better than Kane, even if not in this close season. I don’t want the club to blow their budget when better options may be available, albeit not immediately. Ings is available now for a relatively low fee and Lewandowski would be a good shout IMO. Fully accept that I’m not as skilled or experienced as the club, just my opinion.

Hope we give pay rises to our current players if we sign Kane, no way should he be the highest paid player at the club from day one
