In fairness to those running the club just after the 11/12 title and for a few years after, it wasn’t just not realising we needed to strengthen while on top. We were hamstrung at that point by the introduction of FFP. Despite some reasonably pricey deals (Ferna, Mangala) our spending dropped off for a couple of seasons until Soriano got our commercials sorted & that UCL punishment expired.
 
Yep. That feels very significant. That's 3 players now who City could have conceivably bought: Martinez, Lukaku and Ings and we haven't. That suggests Kane is very much still in the headlights
