Arsenal have spent over £350m since Wenger left. The Emirates cost £390 million to build back in 2004 and Arsenal haven’t really invested in the playing side since barring a few recent notable exceptions that haven’t worked out. Fast forward to 2020 and Tottenham’s stadium cost £1 billion. I get there could be deals that’ll put a hole in those figures such as the naming rights but I don’t think the picture is a rosy as you paint. Sounds like Wenger protesting that Arsenal had plenty of money but he wasn’t prepared to spend it on “bad value”. Spurs will be a selling club for a decade I reckon. That’s not a criticism either. In the longer term they could have a bright future, but in the here and now you don’t write off £1 billion with fancy projections and a cheese room.
