We were in a similar situation 2 years ago. Kompany had retired and Leicester wanted £90m for Maguire. In the end City refused to go any higher and he went to Man Utd for £85m. City predictably saw their remaining defenders get injured (Laporte and Stones) and Livrpool romped away with the league. But 12 months later City bought a better defender in Dias and won the league.
