Harry Kane

In this tournament he has been pretty anonymous, and his goal last night was basically a nod in from inside the six yard box. Against poorer sides in the group he has been quite unimpressive, and physically he ain't gonna improve. It's a slow, downward trot for 'Arry 'Otspur!
What we wouldn’t give for a few ‘nod ins’ from inside the six yard area.

Watching him closely a few things stick out.

Never been fast but he could always buy a yard to get a shot away, that seems to have completely gone. He is not getting the opportunity to do that but the few ones he is getting ends with him being tackled.

His first touch isn't the best, it rarely sticks and his lack of movement/aggression means he is easily beaten to the ball by the CB on him. Though alot of these are from speculative aimless balls pinged up to him at about waist height, you'd hope he could trap more of them and bring others into play.

His passing for someone who wants to drop deep alot is severely underwhelming. Simple link up passes(something Gabby is brilliant at) being intercepted all the time, will have Pep with his head in his hands.

All in all it points to a possible lack of adaptability, that the team has to revolve around him if you are to get the best out of him, this England team isn't built for him, it's built to be solid defensively first so the forwards have to work harder to get their rewards. Raz's world class positioning is paying off in that respect.
On the other hand it is a very defensive team(2nd worst team going forward in group stages) and most strikers would have struggled to make an impact save maybe a bulldozer to get on the end of the endless hoofs upfield.
He is undoubtedly playing poorly, under the pressure microscope of a flappy flip floppy nation. We opened up a bit more vs the Germans and Kane was involved in both goals, was it a good performance overall? No, but it was an improvement inline with an overall team improvement.
If we can continue to play on the front foot I have no doubt Kane will grow into the tournament.
Guardiola has seen things he likes and wants to work with and how often does Pep get first team signings wrong?

Kane would be a completely different player in this City team! At least 30 league goals guaranteed imo!
I can just see a beautiful defence-splitting pass from Foden onto 'Arry's foot but he's caught by a couple of hippos wandering about the field with little intent who've just taken a break from grazing the penalty area

Levy got his media mates to get him all over the back pages after his first goal in the tournament keep his price up!

I sense a system change from pep IF we get Kane to be honest and with some rest this summer and a completely new team and hunger levels Kane would bag for fun at City.

He rarely gets things wrong but what he can't control, although he seems to provide a solution, is players getting injured. I'd be concerned about the 'stress' injuries 'Arry would suffer as a consequence of him 'tumbling' now any pace he had has disappeared.

He moved for 23M in a world where decent FB's move for 50M.

Has he moved yet? Or is that a current claim in the media. Might have missed it, but sonfar it is just another round of speculation is it not.

He has, btw, been linked with a number of clubs (if media speculation is anything to go by) including real madrid and ourselves both supposedly ready to pay 40m for him. Ok, I don't necessarily believe that as such, but if we are choosing to believe we made an offer of 100m + unnamed player for Kane, then can't ignore claims we are interested in A.Silva for 40m.

He just looks really limited & slow as hell.
I know his goal/assist stats are fantastic but what's wrong with him at the moment, is he carrying an injury, is he knackered and running on empty ?

i think hes tired but also fed up at spurs mate? Probably just gone stale and personally think a new challenge with better players playing for the best manager in the world with give him a huge boost and more hunger to succeed.

That's actually pretty much spot on mate, and I hate to say it, but Kev is of similar physical characteristics, not a natural athlete, propensity to gain weight easily, compare that to Fern and Lemondoffski, both natural athletes and very LEAN.

yep, even our own beautiful Sergio definitely peaked around 23-26 and imo that was similar.. injuries mounted up and he started taking longer to get back to match fitness as although he has an incredible burst of pace he is by know means athletic. He also had a tendency to have periods of weight gain throughout his career.. much like Hazzard who has declined at an even more alarming and more premature rate.

Hazzard is a pretty good example of what could happen with Kane. Didn’t Real buy him at around exactly the same age as we are considering buying Kane? If memory serves me correctly wasn’t Hazard was showing signs off a physical drop during his last season at Chelsea? Then boom.. cliff edge.

The fee that Levy would want and the pocket money that 'Arry would expect would be two rock solid reasons to avoid. Levy would be heart-broken if he didn't get £100m, and 'Arry would not be able to make ends meet if he didn't get a Sergio-laden pay packet.

well Kane would get sergios wage surely which was more than Kane is on anyway?
