Harry Kane

100 million above our record signing, quite a hike that.

If he managed 160 games for us, a cool million a game , plus the 400 grand a week your reliable journalist is quoting.
There's room for speculation on numbers. What's sure to me is Levy's had his pants pulled down because of Spurs financial state and he will take a cash deal we offer.

Think the point of the story is being missed in a war of who's reliable and who isn't. It isn't a deal is agreed at £160 mill v Spurs aren't selling ,those are 2 extremmes being spun. The significance is what sounds like confirmation from Kane's side that they believe a Levy has agreed with them he will talk and allow him to go and a deal will now be negotiated. Which we all suspected was the case anyway.

Correct but I worry we’ll see what he’s really capable of if he goes to Chelsea… We made a mistake not paying the agent £10m to land Hazard.. This could easily be an even bigger mistake
Hazard??? Not a success in my opinion

I don’t think any of those things. I just think we could do better than Kane, even if not in this close season. I don’t want the club to blow their budget when better options may be available, albeit not immediately. Ings is available now for a relatively low fee and Lewandowski would be a good shout IMO. Fully accept that I’m not as skilled or experienced as the club, just my opinion.
So lose out on a top player this season for a player who 'may be available' next season?

The point of my reply was anyone quoting the "Sun" has as much credence as the Newspaper.

Not sure this will turn out as you suspect it will.

I think the main issue that people have with Kane and the fee is that a) if Kane's ankles crumble (no genuine evidence of that happening), or he becomes the next Bony (chance of that being negligible), fans of other clubs will take the piss and rejoice, and b) if we do break the bank, both fans of other clubs and a plethora of journalists and media platforms will sneer and say nasty things about our fans, club a owner.

I honestly think it is the fear/shame (add a range of other negative emotions of your choice here) of what others will think if Kane, for whatever reason, flops. I also think a section of our fanbase care or fret more about the external prospective perception of our club than the joy and success a prospective top level player could bring us.

When did we become so thin skinned? In short, I'd rather be positive about the possibility of future success, rather than fearful of possible failure.
I think the problem most people have is that we are giving up on Haaland but going for Kane, for what on paper seems like the same amount. It seems like the deal isn't as good, but people need to remember that we did the same thing with Walker and that was basically because we wanted someone closer to being the finished article but still able to take tactics on board. There's no doubt in my mind that Haaland could play our way, and also that he has the potential for a higher ceiling. But Kane scores goals, scores pens, has shown that he can play a certain way under Poch, the deal just works.
