The original poster that you replied to said some players would use the hypothetical Haaland wage to ask where there rises were, and as far as I can tell you agree with that.

Aren't we both arguing that players understand the finances of a "free/last year deal" (where the lower fee goes to higher wages/signing on fee), so won't complain when it happens, but they will still use it as a bargaining tool - which is exactly the problem the original poster was concerned about.

Can't we just agree to agree :)
