He's not worth the money quoted. Our conduct matters a lot imo.

It's like the Sané situation: if he asks to go & we sell to Bayern, all our players are 'gettable' in the future by tapping up, it's a landmark decision.

If we pay stupid money for Maguire, then clubs think they can ask well over the odds for every future signing & we will pay it or miss out. So no more Bernardo Silva's.

Paying that for Maguire adds 20 mil to every signing, not just his.
Same could have been said for Stones.

I think everyone knows it’s the homegrown tax that’s the issue.

Stones was expensive but much younger & still, compared to Rio Ferdinand, nowhere near the 'top' price for the era.

If Maguire was 21, there would be an argument he could improve 50% under Pep & be worth more.

I bet Leicester would have allowed him to come to City for less, but have seen the red mugs after him & smell the money.

Maybe my memory is shit but I thought Stones was 50m - that was easily 40% more than any sane person could say he was worth when compared to other signings up til then.

And Walker the same. Even Sterling was a staggering price but he held more hope.

We have gone down the Maguire road before. IMO.

Walker & Mahrez are the only players we have paid over the odds for in recent times, purely due their age.

But it's still nothing compared to our rivals, who blow it out of the water each time with record bids. Maguire will be another example.

Let’s agree to disagree on past signings but with regards to Maguire I’m sure we are 100% in agreement that if he goes to united we want him to be a dud and if he comes to us then we want him to be a hit.

Yes but I think he'd be decent for either tbf.

At the rags, he'll probably be their most dangerous goal threat.

I think Walker was good value.

He'll improve them greatly.

This! Would he improve us = yes! Would he improve the Rags = Huge YES! He is commanding in his own box and very dangerous in the opponents box... Don't know why we are so blinded by the fact that he is a very good player, albeit grossly overvalued, but that's not his problem. Odds on scoring against us this coming season from a corner/free kick ????

agreed, maguire would be a very good signing for us but is a brilliant signing for them lot!

Walker was very expensive at the time but he improved us in a position where we were desperate and he's been solid enough for us. The success we've had with him as a first choice regular in that position makes it impossible to say we overpaid really. It was probably the equivalent of paying £75m for Maguire now. It's an eye watering amount but not something i think we'd live to regret either if we keep winning stuff (which I think we will).

Maguire isn't even worthy of a bench spot in our squad. Not our level. He'll improve rags because it's not that difficult in that side to bench Smalling, Jones, Bailly. Easy starter every week with Lindelof
