My main fault with him he's too soft to be a centre back he needs to be far more aggressive to reach higher standards.

Agreed he is bullied and knocked off the ball too easily. When he came in against Spurs at the end of the season he was all over the place, it was like he had never played for us before. His marking and positional awareness haven't improved or his lapses in concentration. On his day he can look world class but he isn't consistent.

Ridiculous money for a good player but an £80/90M one and thats before you factor in his wages?

You can see the logic behind united signing him, Maguire and Jones lining up next to each other will scare opposition strikers shitless.

I’m in 2 minds on this. I’d be happy to have the best English/British players amongst the squad to fit the quota (any quota is a pain in general including this one).

There’s very few players that fit the criteria and are at our level. So even if Maguire is not perfect and is vastly overpriced, do we really have much choice.

Maybe the only choice is to wait for our own players to meet the quota criteria.

In the meantime Maguire and those like him will improve united I think.

So if we got him last minute I’d be happy but I really can’t be that disappointed.

He's not worth the money quoted. Our conduct matters a lot imo.

It's like the Sané situation: if he asks to go & we sell to Bayern, all our players are 'gettable' in the future by tapping up, it's a landmark decision.

If we pay stupid money for Maguire, then clubs think they can ask well over the odds for every future signing & we will pay it or miss out. So no more Bernardo Silva's.

Paying that for Maguire adds 20 mil to every signing, not just his.
