Going from Otamendi to Maguire is an upgrade, not a downgrade.

My problem is that I want an adequate replacement for Vinnie. It doesn't look like we're going to get that and we're going to spend an insane amount replacing our 4th choice centre back.

Well it took Laporte about 2 games to slot into our system, and he made his debut the day after he signed. Maguire could have a full pre-season with us if we signed him in July.

And Maguire is better in the air and a better passer than Otamendi, and far less injury prone than Kompany.

Maguire is good with the ball at his feet but as a centerback he's not good enough for us. He's United/Arsenal level at best, they could use a guy like Maguire
